3 million people shoulder almost all of SA’s tax burden

The tax base is shrinking because of capital flight, increasing emigration of the middle and high income earners (unusually employers and skilled individuals) and the unofficial 'tax revolt' where companies and individuals are finding creative and legal ways to reduce their tax burden.

The number of indigent people drawing social grants is currently +/- 17.4 million and growing rapidly.

This socialist "free money for votes" scheme has become unsustainable. Wait till the social grant pot empties in the near future and government begins austerity and social spending cuts.

The ANC will have a revolt on their hands when the promised freebies which have been doled out for decades are either withheld or restricted.

I don't want to be near SA when that day comes ... and believe me, it's just around the corner.
I suspect we heading there regardless.. you can’t live in a country that is not really representative on its people.

Regardless of thoughts on how it will happen.. if there is no economic transformation (the empowering kind.. not handout, stupid placements etc) we sitting on a civil war time bomb. It would be insanely lucky if it weren’t to happen.. so yah.

That’s why I find racist business & professional people dumb as ****.. at the end of the day, that kind of stupid planning leads to only one thing. Sadly we now have a case where non-white educated folk are leaving en mass which makes the situation worse and I don’t see a way out anymore.

No problem, there are still lots of money in the pension funds.
You would not believe how many black teachers resigned over the last 5 years just to get their hands on their pension money. Most of them got jobs again in education a year or two later.

Strange that guavament has figures broken down by race classification on absolutely everything, except for Personal Income tax contribution. I would be quite curious to know that figure.
Crime as well - no race there.

SA is huge majority black. It's no rocket science. Issue is compounded by influx of unemployed immigrants from most of Southern Africa, made easy by government's lax controls at the borders.

Step 1: ANC stop looting.
Step 2: Reduce PIT.
Step 3: Give up EWC and NHI.

Step 4: Watch economy magically bounce back a bit.

It's honestly not witch craft or science fiction, we know it will work.
Add deregulating labour laws (and power generation and anything else that is over regulated), break the unions' stranglehold and judiciously privatise SOE's etc and the economy will be flying.

It's a complete and utter no brainer, but it seems the worse it gets, the more they double down on social engineering (and socialist) policies that are clearly not working.

Which leads me to conclude that since these people can't be that stupid they are either just saying and doing what they think will keep them in power for another term, or they have another agenda entirely.

Also further afield. But they tend to arrive at OR Thambo etc with fake documents, end up destroying our businesses and others abroad Ever wonder why overseas blocks South Africans? That's another story though and probably not for public consumption ... But hey - Minister Fear Fokol & Co gave us the internet - or so he claims (with no checks, balances or stats).

Crime is faceless if unsolved. Which would be 99.2% of all crime (lol just kidding. Or am I?) Thus it would be impossible to break down by race. But Personal Income Tax? They have that down to the last cent.

Also, crime has faceless people running the show. Who ordered the hit? We may never find out.

because the anc government is "representing" the people, then the people's demand is to have more handout by doing nothing, the anc government also must "listen" to the people?

you really think that by EWC, discrimination against minority, destroying the economy etc will not start a civil war?

why businesses are racist? money has no skin colour, if the businesses are able to hire a better black guy with cheaper salary than a white guy, I don't understand why the businesses are going to hire a lower qualification white guy with higher salary. when the businesses are willing to pay more to hire a white guy, you have to ask yourself why. that is insane to blame the businesses and accuse they are racist.

At 15% SA is still cheap vs others.. normal is 18-24% in most places.

If they wanna raise VAT, this is the year to do it. PIT can’t be adjusted much short of adding in new top tiers and even then the net gain is not worth it.
15% is cheap? then how much SA people earn when you compare to the rest of the world? and how can you compare with some countries never have VAT? and also the counties have lesser taxes?

Don't come with your "European" logic in here please :)

Looking for excuses instead of tackling the corruption that plunders the tax income.

Also, notice the lack of outcry over the tax burden inequality, always with the crying over being unequal except when it comes to paying for everything.

This thread is racist, it demands white equality without addressing the "evils of apartheid" in perpetuity. Clearly more holy war on whiteness is needed.

What outcry are you looking for and from whom? The entitlement, always expecting people to do things for you, how about starting the outcry?

You earn more, you pay more, end of story.

You pay more for services and a working country, if that's not being provided then what exactly are you paying for?

There wouldn't be a need for the extreme taxes if the money wasn't stolen.

As I understand it, money is not a zero sum game. So you don't need to take more from the haves and give more to the havenots. The pie can grow infinitely. But this only happens if Governments get out of the way and allow the markets to flourish.

The problem is that the commies in Government don't understand economics. They only know how to be revolutionaries. Much has been written about how Governments manned only by revolutionists ultimately all fail, because they have achieved their liberation goals, but their skills are now useless in a global economy. They are always looking for the next demon to fight against. It is all they know.
