Last 7 days - 2 outages. Each repaired after a techy called me to confirm it is back up.

Today, my voice line died again, but I still have ADSL with these horrific stats. Also now I am ADSL_G.dmt again?

What is causing this?

The line degrades every day for around 11AM and returns to normal after about 10PM. Peak daytime and afternoon plus evening the phone line is dead and the DSL syncs at such a low upload speed that the internet is unusable. When in a degraded state my telephone line loses dial tone.

However... even with no dial tone if I call the line somewhere while it rings it will register for just a second that an incoming call has occurred and show a missed call on the handset.

Just checked my stats now on Afrihost panel and it is fine... will check again at 11.

Stats at the moment according to Afrihost panel.

Normal State Line Stats:
US Rate: 508kbps
DS Rate: 5115Kbps
US Margin: 24
DS Margin: 31
Modulation: ADSL_2plus
DS Attenuation: 15
US Attenuation: 7
No errors occur on the line as per interleaving.

With the various issues I have had over the last 3 weeks Telkom has been the most helpful. DIRECTLY.

1) Afrihost customer support has been asking me for tracert's etc when I am querying an intermittent line drop. i.e dead phone line included and lower sync rate.

2) Telkom has responded faster and with more relevant replies to each of my tickets than Afrihost.

3) Currently my line is syncing the entire time at ~4093/252 where it was 5115/508. I get a reply from Afrihost that the sync is correct. Okay, irrespective of the fact that I am on an interleaved profile and Telkom's system should up me to 5115, let's agreed 4Mbps should be on 4093kbps... what about the 252kbps upload rate? How is that normal?

My line stats are exemplary and can handle a lot more than a 4Mbps line. Why is this customer support thing so complicated. :/
