360 Audio from RCA to Headphones

Hi guys,

Was wondering if this could work.

I have an xbox 360 and hdmi to vga cable connected to a monitor, but no sound. Is there a way I can use the RCA cables to a female RCA and then into a set of headphones?

Volume control is an issue as well as the possibility of blowing my headphones?

Just wanna know if this could work? or maybe buying a cheap pair of speakers and then connecting the xbox to that.

Never had a Xbox, but can't you connect an USB soundcard to the Xbox and then connect your headphones to that?
