Hi

I did a speed test (telkom) and It seems that the speed is over 500 kilobits. I have a 384 line, so is it possible that the line is upgraded. I did three telkom speed tests ans this is what results I get.

Code:
 Test 1:

    * Download time: 8.132 seconds
     * Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
    * Estimated line speed: 501.7 (kilobits/second)
    * Estimated line speed: 61.5 (kiloBytes/second)

Code:
 Test 2:
       Download time: 9.243 seconds
       Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
       Estimated line speed: 441.4 (kilobits/second)
       Estimated line speed: 54.1 (kiloBytes/second)

Code:
 Test 3:
       Download time: 7.55 seconds
       Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
       Estimated line speed: 540.4 (kilobits/second)
       Estimated line speed: 66.2 (kiloBytes/second)

If anyone on 384 gets similar speed please let me know.

I get between 350Kbps and 400Kbps on the telkom test, but that's BS becasue even with multipal threads to a good local server my d/l rate never go's above 39.8KB/s so i dont trust that site.

It has been established in a previous thread that the test is very unreliable. To check if you've been upgraded, go into your router and see what it's syncing at.

Strange, I've also got a 384k line and the exact same thing happened to me today...;)

At first i was really excited, but then i decided, lets do another test, and i went to www.openweb.co.za and got my usual speeds :(

Been getting it as well..... But i think that the telkom speed test is rigged, jus to make you think you have DSL!!! :mad: when in essence, its glorified dial-up
