Got my Ender 3 S1 yesterday. Setup took 15mins, first print another 30 after that
Took 15 minutes to build the printer?
Is this your first printer, because that is really fast just to setup software never mind the hardware? (I'm assuming no)

Either way, print looks great, PLA?

Took me about 20min to setup my first printer. Software was maybe another 5min after waiting maybe 5min for it to download. I think it's much easier nowadays. Before I got the printer watched plenty videos, so knew exactly what to expect and do.

Yup, first printer. The S1 comes about 80% assembled. Assembly is literally:
- Screw in gantry
- Screw in sprite extruder/hotend
- Clip on filament holder
- Screw in screen holder, put on screen
- Plug in about 7 plugs
Done.
Then you do an auto-level, adjust z-offset, print.

(And yes, SA Filament PLA)

Sounds like exactly what I had to do on the Biqu B1 SE Plus. Almost step for step haha.

The auto leveling I think makes it super easy to get the first few prints to look good. I am still learning how to tweak my profiles but got my print times halved so far without losing quality really.

I'm having a small issue with the one roll of CCTree filament, somehow the winding of the roll has been cocked up so every so often it catches itself and then obviously fscks up the print if I'm not watching it like a hawk :(... lost 3 of the pieces for my big SA map so far to it....

Yeah in the US people will file a claim on Amazon for that (seen a few of those).
The roll is defective.
Nobody can print with a f#cking roll that snags on itself then gets stuck.

If Prusa fillament weren't so expensive to ship i would totally pay the extra for it.
Their quality control is just so much better than these other companies.

I was doing really well with eSun but recently had a roll that also had a weird kink in the roll that messed up a 2 day print (yeah 2 whole f@cking days)

So I've said this before, but I'm printing ABS.
I built an enclosure out of cardboard that seals REALLY well (let's just say my mechanical engineer GF went a bit overboard on the "engineering" of this box, so seals really well)
Ambient reaches 50℃ inside the box (I have a thermocouple inside the box).

Almost all of the bolts on my Ender 3 started going loose over time.
I've bought new lock-nuts and replaced every single lock-nut.
I also added thread-locker (blue/medium strength) on each of the nuts (then let it cure for 24 hours)

This actually seems to hold up to the heat and haven't had it come loose again.
It is amazing to me how everything just started going undone by the heat.

Thought maybe others would find this useful in the future if you are having the same problem (I tried at first just replacing the lock-nuts, they came loose again, so I think thread locker did it)

Thought it was only me. Have the same issue with a grey roll of CCTree. Haven't done a large print in a while, I unwind it a bit and check for tangles (?) before starting.

Its the first time I've had this, and after the first time I did the unwind and check for tangles thing... but it looks like this role has a few of them, or its been wound in such a way that it generates its own tangles after a while :(

How long does it take you to unwind and re-wind a roll so that it doesn't have tangles or laying one layer on top of the other?
I have some empty rolls so maybe I should do that for my eSun roll that is giving me issues.
But I tried to unroll a spool once without having another spool to wind it on (so unwind then re-wind), it was a mess.

TBH, I haven't tried to do a whole roll, I can only imagine it would be a complete nightmare...

With the current roll, I'm at my desk the whole day so the printer is next to me and I'm just watching it every few minutes and unwinding a bit when it gets near a snag so that it doesn't fsck up the print (hopefully)

I've only had tangles when buying somebody else's 2nd hand filament. Perhaps those guys deliberately knotted the stuff just to mess with me, who knows.

Anywho, I rewound the spools by taking an empty spool, jamming a piece of wood in the hole and attaching my drill. The knotted spool I lay down flat on a Carlton roll holder so it can move freely. Then I just let rip with the drill.
You can of course just manually wind as well, just takes a minute or 2 longer.

I've been lucky, only had two issues with filament, both from SA suppliers, and both offered great service by replacing them without question.

Some of the stuff I have is well over a year old and still going strong.

Outside of DIYElectronics, where could I possibly source some filament in the Durban area for reasonable money?

I will never use cctree or sunlu goes brittle to quick .eSun is my goto for petg and pla+
I have recently been finding that the cctree stuff goes brittle too quickly for me as well. Started trying the eSun PLA to see how that goes and apparently, SA Filament has been getting much better lately so I have thought about trying out a roll or two...

I don't live in Durban and I still buy my filament from DIYElectronics :p
Lately they have really good variety and good brands

Their range is decent and price is decent as well...

But I'm being lazy and don't want to buy lots currently, and largely just looking for options where I can possibly walk in and buy a roll or two.

Hey guys any advice? I have an ender 3v2 that’s been amazing - but I’m looking to try some resin printing for miniatures. So looking for an entry level printer, but the only brand available locally seems to be crealities Halot… no other brands seem available in the under 7k bracket. I’ve read some mixed reviews - but there doesnt seem to be an alternative - other than Amazon for something like a Mars 3? Anyone had experience with a Halot or know of any alternatives?
