Hey guys any advice? I have an ender 3v2 that’s been amazing - but I’m looking to try some resin printing for miniatures. So looking for an entry level printer, but the only brand available locally seems to be crealities Halot… no other brands seem available in the under 7k bracket. I’ve read some mixed reviews - but there doesnt seem to be an alternative - other than Amazon for something like a Mars 3? Anyone had experience with a Halot or know of any alternatives?

Think you might struggle to find something in your budget...

A resin printer is now on my wishlist as well, but its something that very definitely will have to wait a good long while.

Messing around with a cricut 3 and some iron-on transfer. Yeah it's just a plotter, but it works well (don't need to fiddle with anything) and supports a lot of materials. Decent quality on finer details.

So tried to print a temperature tower today on cctree pla that was on special.

On default standard 0.2mm profile I struggled at 205 degrees start (my mistake) , basically spaghetti and no bed adhesion from layer 1.

Eventually moved to my semi tuned extra fast profile at 225 degrees start.

Started fine after using a brim but damn this filament is on another level of brittle. Could not finish my tower.

Is that their ST-PLA?
Found I had to use a bed temp of at least 65c and 210c to 214c nozzle. Their pre-ST stuff was much better imo...

Hmm. Say standard pla I think. OK will give 65 bed a try with slightly higher nozzle. Want to print a temperature tower to see which temperature has the best quality overall. Although the bed at 60 had great adhesion with the brim.

Birthday present for someone. "I'll make a quick maze" turned into a double sided game with a (quite difficult) maze on one side with an obstacle course on the other. Quite fun trying to do speedruns through it. Blue cover is lasercut perspex. Last pic is the magnetic controller.

Is anyone powering their printer for the duration of load-shedding (+-2hrs) via a UPS or something? Generator isn't really viable (noise might be an issue) so looking for something quieter to start. Might've missed a discussion around this somewhere.

When bed is on temp, and heating nozzles; +/- 230/240 W
During printing; fluctuates around 160/170 W

doubt a generic ups will be enough, but those ellies/mecer trollies while a bit over kill will work just fine. the printer should have a decent psu to make use of the simulated sine wave power.

Lucky for me, we have solar at home so printer runs on that.

When I run mine, I plug it into my current 5k/lithium battery inverter setup.

Used to run my CR-10S4 off a pure sine wave 1000w 12v inverter and 2x 104ah gel deep cycle batteries, no problems for the old 4hr loadshedding times a few years ago. The 2hr shedding times now should be more than doable with that setup.

Anybody know where to find self tappers online in the following sizes? Preferably somewhere I can order online, as nobody in my town stocks anything close.

  • M2x6.5mm
  • M2x9mm

Busy printing this and would like to use the correct screws.

Try www.eis.co.za
I got a few random needed small screws and cap screws for my printing projects.
Those sizes you mention seem non standard though

I'm sure that part will work with standard length screws. Else buy long and cut shorter.

OK. Good idea. Was hoping to find screws that are the right length (or close to it), as I need a lot of them. :)

Has anyone used them before? The cheap prices on their printers make me a bit weary about whether they're legit or not.
Interesting, they have a cpt phone number listed. When I use the big G it shows 0 reviews etc. Either they brand new or I dont know.

At least 260 people like them on facebook.

Still nothing concrete.

Oh facebook says "Page created - March 4, 2022"
