Its PLA on a Ender3... just a bit stumped on how it only happens occasionally (twice so far)
Which PLA is it? If it's clear PLA it might still require different settings to regular PLA. Might run cooler, require different retraction settings.

(looks a bit too clear for PLA - you sure?)

Mambawire colour changing... My most recent print which is on going I've dialed down the temp from 200 to 195 to see if it makes a difference.

It does seem to print almost clear though, real pain in the ass trying to see if the bed is level :D

All I have at the moment, going to order some more normal filament on Monday.

You can print some temperature towers with new filament to dial in the temperature for a specific batch. Makes a decent difference to your prints.

Currently don't have a spot for the printer, and with us starting work again soon, my wife needs her desk back - so I think my next project will be an encloses using the Ikea Lack tables.

Googled them - seems you have to manually setup the temps in Cura, will figure it out and save the gcode for future.

Looking for some guidance. I cannot find a supplier for this locally. I came across a video where this was printed.

Where in Johannesburg can I get this printed and delivered to me?
How is 3D printing priced and charged?

What would cause these bubbles? Sometimes happens - other times not - same temps

Turns out the culprit is octoprint... It randomly pauses on prints in spots causing the filament to blob. Weirdly, it only happens every now and then.... I monitored the Pi's resources, and it's barely used.

I see you can change the USB baud rate in the firmware, which helps - just not sure I'm up for the effort.

Had an overnight print last night, just glad it didn't happen.

Printed this case for my NVR, took 10 hours ... Its colour changing PVA so should be interesting. Everything came out 100% with octoprint.

Now trying a temp tower - forth attempt. First one fell over at 200 - Second one pulled off at 225. Third one octoprint completely stuffed up, pauses so often I couldn't make out the temps.

Hopefully forth time lucky.

Also hoping to order some new PLA tomorrow.

How long can you store PLA? Wondering if ordering four rolls might do more damage than good.

I bought some 300x400mm zip bags and desiccant pouches to store/seal. Works well and I have some 2yr+ PLA that's still good (opened & stored in a cool dark place, i.e. garage ;) ).

Most brands these days have the resealable bags in any event, so should be fine.

Good to know, want to order 4 rolls.

Currently storing like this - but going to build storage into my table with a hydrometer.

That's what I do (with the dehydrator standing up). I've also had PLA on the machine for months and never had an issue with printing.

Dehydrator stands up often - problem with a toddler in the house dragging things around. She usually isn't in my office :p

I've just ordered 4x rolls of SA Filament - so here's holding thumbs.

Any of you guys live in Cape Town and using Calcium Chloride desiccant?

I dried my PLA filament for roughly 6 hours at 45 degrees C and stored it in a plastic box for a week with a bag of that desiccant but I think I may still have slightly too much moisture.

I waited about 2 months before doing the drying because I was waiting on some sillica gel desiccant (gave up on that) and finally found the calcium chloride, which as far as I can tell is an even better desiccant than sillica gel.

TL;DR wanting to hear if others of you are using the same kind of desiccant (calcium chloride) and how it works for you.

So I ordered 3x Ikea Lack tables, ordering glass today, and hopefully receive filament this week - by next week I'll hopefully be well on the way to an enclosure.

Received really good service from AMS - they replaced the Satin PLA without issue - and now - I added a roll of PetG to my order - but - was a little late, so they shipped it for free.

Nice to receive service that goes the extra mile for a change.
