Anyone design their own stuff?

Not sure if its worth trying to figure out Blender - or if I should go for Cushion 360? Been fighting with Tinkercard for a small handle (kid dropped milk frother) - but its quite limited

Reasons I've never used Blender for product design stuff is:

1.) Ja I guess you can work in real-world units but its always felt a bit clunky in that regard.
2.) You're always working with meshes / polygons. Fine for loads of things, but for parts I prefer to design with design intent, ie. sketching the sections with properly defined dimensions rather than pulling faces, edges & vertices around.
3.) It's not really parametric. With Fusion 360 for example you can easily modify some part of your geometry and have things update, not so much with Blender.

I think Fusion 360 is still free for personal use. I'd probably lean toward that rather than Blender for this kind of thing.

I use the free version of Fusion 360. The limitations they added a while ago isn't too bad and I haven't found anything else that works as nice and is free.

Awesome - will spend a bit more time trying to get it working on Win7.

Played around with Blender briefly - found it quite frustrating.

Had the same issue with stock. Bought the 300x300 from 3dprintingstore.co.za for R149 and cut it to size...

Yeah, Fusion 360 has a bit of a learning curve, but much better for designing parts. License wise, I dunno where they are headed. I see my personal license expires in 15 days. It will be interesting to see if I can get a new personal license or if I'm going to be locked out...
Been using Fusion 360 for about a year now.

Nothing happens to it if you cut them?
I use it on my i3 bed of 220x220. Works well, even if cut down.
Another option is the Creality build tak, needs a trim down to 214mm:

EDIT:
The generic build-tak may also work: https://www.diyelectronics.co.za/store/beds-heaters/1994-buildtak-200x200mm.html

It's only a build surface so shoyls work across most printers ;)

Cool. I'm worried about the non-Wanhao brand. I bought one from another place once and suddenly my proximity sensor for the z-axis couldn't detect the approaching bed and it slammed into the nozzle.

I use freeCAD and openSCAD. If you have a programming background openSCAD is nice to use.

Bought our first 3d printer... Flashforge adventurer 3. Mostly got it because it seems pretty simple to use.
Have never used a 3d printer before, and after some initial challenges with adhesion I think it came out nice.

Batman is 150mm tall.

Ah, right. Not sure about the sensor as don't have one. If you cut the Wanhao sheet it should be fine.

Their new site layout is horrible and very buggy since the update...
