Hello. Spoiled myself this Christmas with a 3d printer as I've had an interest in them when they were just starting to come out with the reprap. Been loving it so far. The tech blows my mind. Recently I've run in to an issue where the weather has been so humid that my PLA is unusable as it has soaked up too much water and snaps when barely bending it.

I'm wanting to build a dry box but was wondering where you all got your dessicant? I found something at builders called Moisture Absorber and was wondering if anyone use this stuff?

Thanks!
Thats what I use.

Can someone who knows someone at DIYElectronics please ask them to stop using Fastway.
They are a useless bunch who clearly have no clue how to deliver a package. My order goes out for delivery every day and back in to the warehouse everyday for no other reason.

when I called to complain they say I must take it up directly with the driver. WTH??
So they give me the drivers cell no and its OFF permanently.

What a bunch of muppets.

Anyone with an Ender 3 V2 have any issues with a weird knocking noise every now and then + layer shift (seems like my printer is either hitting an end or not enough motor current, not sure really).

I'm changing out to a SKR 1.4 Turbo to see if running with TMC2209 will solve my issues but wow it is annoying.
I had my extruder jumping - turns out I had a partial clog.

I'm using these: https://www.builders.co.za/Home-and-Decor/Home-Cleaning-&-Accessories/Home-Fresheners/Absodry-Moisture-Bye-Bye-Refills---Fragrance-Free-(3-x-450g)/p/000000000000668302

More bang for you buck. I inspected the options in store and they looked the best overall. YMMV.

I dried out my filament in the oven for 8 hours. Than put it in a Addis container with a bag of that stuff. Seems to have dried out now, but it was nowhere near as bad as yours.

Thanks for the replies. Will try this out.

Weather has been crazy humid lately. 87% humidty today, and been high for the last 3 days so I'm really not surprised. Even paper around the house feels soft, almost wet. It's insane.

Wow. I live in Cape Town, it is humid but not that bad I think.

I've also put my filament in my bedroom where I have the AC on a lot of the time (even tho it is in a container).

Last thing, keep in mind that you'll remove most moisture using heating or cooling with a closed air loop. If you only use desiccant it'll take a very long time to dry out to the required levels.

Trying to print one of those articulated animals - but for the life of me I can't get the damn thing to adhere to the bed... I've printed two a week or two ago without issue. I've literately restarted about 20x

Re-levelled the bed multiple times, used glue - changed multiple first layer properties - tried the smooth side of the bed - changed initial print temperature, changed bed temperature, printed slower, printed faster, changed filament, etc, etc - I'm now putting double glue down - and trying 21x.... the smaller parts keep coming loose.

Have you tried using a brim? It can help give more surface area for smaller parts.

Yeh, had the same issue with adhesion along the finer parts.

I think I've found the issue though... the $#%#$$# Pi running Octoprint overheating and stepping down performance. Starting to wonder if Octoprint is worth the hassle - not the first time its caused issues.

I use Octoprint on a 3B and not had any issues at all.

Octoprint also works great on my 3B. Its is a case under the hotbed and never had a head issue. Octoprint doesn't seem to like Chrome though, I need to start Edge to control it.

I haven't had much luck with mine - also a 3 - previously was under voltage, fixed that by covering the 5v pin on the USB cable, now its overheating - according to resource monitor, it stays fairly constant at 60 degrees. It is hot today, 32 degrees - so maybe its related. Last night I printed via Octoprint for 8 hours straight without issue.

(the knock on effect of the above is the printer keeps pausing mid print briefly - which causes the issues I've been experiencing today - moved back to SD card printing and its 100% - didn't even wash the glass, or re-level the bed)

Now I wait to experience my next oddity.

If you want to print something tall and thin - whats best, a brim or raft?

I can't lie it flat as it'll loose fine detail.

I've never used a raft for anything other than providing a base for support structure when I've got a part with very little surface area contact with the buildplate. Printing a vertical cylinder with raft for example won't provide additional benefit over a brim (imo). Brim, or go wider on the brim or add internal brim as well if the part allows it.

Either, the wider the better. Raft is more sturdy.
Thanks, I think a raft - tried printing it last night, but noticed it becomes a bit wobbly near the top as the nozzle moves around....
