Do you need to upgrade the hotend for ABS?
Shouldn't be required. I can print Funkiments at 230°C just fine. I have printed at 240°C and above as well, but I reverted back to lower temps as it doesn't seem like I needed to.

Just keep in mind, if you have a stock hotend the PTFE will be pressed against the nozzle and will deteriorate much faster than with PLA. You may need to nip the tip of the bowden tube once in a while., but just keep an eye on it.

Do you have an enclosure? And what kind of build surface are you using?

I have great success with Funkiments ABS, but I'm using an enclosure (the Creality tent thingie) and Magigoo for my glass bed. That combo is epic. I printed this whole Landy in Funkiments ABS. I was amazed that the suspension works as good as it does.

Everything is a dildo if you try hard enough :D

What is it though?
Was more for the sake of trying to create the patterning geometry, the dildo shape was just part of something I had open so grabbed it to use. Starting to like this white resin (Peopoly Deft) - gets nice & strong once cured.

Clever people. How can I safety proof this:

I've put the 3D printer in the cupboard as wife said it makes too much noise.

I have a 10A Sonoff which I am going to connect.
I have that smoke detector, but only helpful if you can hear it.

Are there some other clever devices or things I can use to monitor heat in the cupboard etc.

Any other tips.

Hi

Upgrade the control board to a btt skr 1.3 with silent drivers

For safety enable thermal runaway protection in the firmware

Then remove it from the cupboard

I have a couple of questions.

Time frame for nozzle replacement (brass), what is the rule of thumb 5 kg or is it a matter of you will know when it is time ?

My 'daughter board' has gone bang and cannot find one on line, could I run every thing from the hot end straight to the main board ?

I have managed to bridge the problem above, but it is a temp fix.

I recon the printer should be in some type of enclosure, Better out of the way , and your getting constant temp's.

Apart from that rather don't piss the Mrs off ........

Does your printer support thermal runaway protection?

Get yourself a cheap wifi cam, then you can check in on the printer whenever you want. The EZVIZ cams also have infra red so it will work just fine in complete darkness. e.g.

It does have thermal runaway and it works. Thinking to also put in an led strip.

Which EZVIZ cam do you have?

Can they pick up sound as well?
