Hi there

I picked up a problem getting 3G connection in Parkhurst yesterday, but I was unsure about the equipment. I discovered this morning that my home system in Fourways has exactly the same problem ("3G only" profile doesn't "acquire" connection, 610 and 31 errors as well), and only "GPRS only" works. Also 3G signal weak (1 or 2 bars, normally 5 bars). Help Desk has no idea what's going on, can only open a call with 24 hour response time promised(!).

Anyone else having problems out here?

We (my friend and I) are having problems calling on 3G - data seem to work fine. Helpdesk doesn't know about the network problem, they suggested switching to 2G only.

I have a 6680 and he a JasJar. Pathetic!

My sister living in Rivonia got the same issues , it seems to be a common thing these days in Gauteng on Vodacom if you only get 1-2 bars 3G reception. I told her to switch to GPRS Only profile, and that works fine. I am sort of use to it, luckily i do not NEED 300kbps+ speeds otherwise i would've been moaning alot more.

I can understand if there's probs in the outer PTA areas where i tend to be in, but i was rather surprised [and amused] to find people having the same problems in the middle of Sandton ...i mean that's like THE area where i would imagine 4+ bars 3G reception...am i wrong?

I am again on my MTN sim [Voda bundle gone again], their 3G still much much more stable than my Vodacom 3G ....i also have a Jasjar and i have to set it to GPRS only otherwise i can forget it, the UTMS/3G keeps loosing signal [on vodacom].

Sandringham - JHB

Yesterday 25th had problems connecting to 3G HSDPA. 692 errors constantly. When I evetually managed to connect, had periods of no throughput and had to disconnect and reconnect.

Is there a problem with the network?
I am jumping between GPRS and 3G with no HSDPA.
(Randpark Ridge)

Is any body else having these problems.

Speed
# Estimated line speed: 119.5 (kilobits/second)
# Estimated line speed: 14.6 (kiloBytes/second)

3G signal booster???

I live in sunninghill --close to Rivonia and have 3g problems

I connect to internet using my nokia 6680 3g connection.
Unfortunately I only get 3g signal in one area of my house which limits being able to use a usb cable. I therefore use bluetooth for the connection which seems to work. problem is the 3g signal is not that strong. I have been looking for a 3g booster antenna but these seem to be only available for the data cards.

Anybody know how I can boost 3g signal to a nokia 6680? any suggestions/solutions are worth considering.

exact same problem for the last 3 or 4 days.

Your line speed is approximately 97 Kbps or 11.9 kBytes/sec
( Where kb = kilobits and kB = kiloBytes )

(Usually at around 15 aswell, a little slower today)

Hope its not time to have to move to MTN 3G... they finally got 3G in my area like a week ago :D

Kelland connection problems

I keep on receiving an error code 619 when I log in from home in Kelland. As soon as I log in at Cresta, the connection is fine.

This morning with the 3G card I couldn't connect at home and received the 619 error. At Cresta it was possible to log in. I then swopped the card for a HSDPA card and couldn't connect at home (619 error), despite uninstalling the previous modem driver and then dashboard. The new dashboard was installed and yet the error code remained. I went back to Cresta and was able to connect. Came back home and received error code 619 again.

On average I reinstall the 3G software 3 times per month and I have only had the 3G card for 9 months. All in all the most frustrating user experience with any product I have ever used.

No connection at all in Northcliff

Absolutely no connection in Northcliff this weekend. I have lodged another complaint with Voda but the response has been poor to say the least.

On Friday I was able to connect for up to 15 minutes at a time, but on Saturday, Sunday nothing at all.

For the last month I've had only intermittant connectivity - nothing that I can rely on.

Of course if you think that is frustrating, wait until you try to get some action from Vodacom. :(

The slow connection I am getting seems to only be during the week. Weekends are full speed and late night.

Can anyone quote on what these error codes mean?

Error code 619, 31, 610 and 692?

They all seem related to coverage problems. But then why all the same error code? What message comes after the error codes?
