In W/Boom South Pretoria - had 619 errors 4 times before connecting. once connected timeouts are the order of the day - no use. Using MTN Edge at the moment - V3G could this be investigated? I also am unable to get 3G indoors.

To quote the network management guys:

"There are massive Telkom failures in Pta at the moment, Telkom hope to have links back up by 9pm"

Note, this could also be affecting other regions as so much equipment is in the area.

urmm... that might explain my half dead ADSL tonight too but, how come Virgin and MTN are working fine albeit on EDGE (MTN) and GPRS(VM)?

Maybe they're still using Telkom dial-up for connectivity? ;)

Latest info hope to have it up again by 9:30 (according to Telkom)

There is a masive problem on the prepaid accounts. You cannot connect via gprs and you can not upload money to the accounts. Voice is working.

Why does this always happenes just as you need to do something on the net

Adds up, pre-paid seems to be more affected than contract.

It is only prepaid as two of my contract sims can go on the net without a problem.
