3G home office with VOIP?

Good day all,

Everyone seems to have different views on how I should do this, and I am hoping I can get more clarity from the experts!

1. In a nutshell, I would like to setup a home office with VOIP as I will be making extensive international calls.
2. I would like to use a 3G connection for ADSL as I understand it could be better value than getting a Telkom landline + ADSL.
3. I believe I would need a wifi router compatible with a 3G USB dongle, and VOIP software (FNB Connect has been recommended).

Please could I have some advice on hardware and 3G bundles? (There seem to be so many 3G bundles on the market).

Thanks

Keep power failures in mind. I had one today for 2 hours. My laptop's battery ran out and I had to shut down. Since I am now in a complex I cant use the generator that I previously bought. Some VOIP phones dont work without electricity

1. Cool
2. This is debatable. Uncapped ADSL is not that expensive 1mbps is R330 odd all inclusive I think (they say line included but I'm not sure if this is Telkom line + ADSL line or just the ADSL line? The pings on ADSL are usually better and more stable than on 3G - thus reducing lag and glitches when you are VOIP'ing - although this will probably still be fairly noticeable with international calls (as with any international calls). Plus if you are using a lot of data (10GB + a month) it sort of works out more cost efficient.
3. You can get a 3G wifi router with a built in 3G modem for around R800 (Hauwei are in my opinion the best). Or if you already have a 3g modem you can get a 3G wifi router (TP LINK is pretty good at around R400)

There are plenty, it all depends on your usage and the hours you expect to use it. How many GB do you use a month and with the international calls do you mainly make them during business hours? Or also at night (to US and Aus etc)
