Tell me how things go with the router, and if I can pick it up later on at your place and do my own testing please as my RSSI is up to no good.

The router is not going to sort out your RSSI....What you need is this to sort out your signal issue.

Well, depends. If he's in the basement then putting the router upstairs maybe by a window could improve things drastically.

I found out which base station I connect 2 and I am very disappointed as the base station seems to be a couple of KM away from me.. (If the correct location was given) will find out later where the other base station I connect 2 are located.

Hey guys

Couple of things......

1. We've got beta firmware from TP-Link which should hopefully solve these Cell-C issues, if not we'll need the syslog files which can be sent to [email protected], the links off our website are here MR34020 and MR3220

2. I saw a question being asked about the differences between the MR3420 and MR3220, in terms of features they are 100% identical, the only difference between the two is that the MR3420 is Wireless-N (supporting WI-FI speeds of up to 300mbps) and the MR3220 is Lite-N (support speeds of up to 150mbps) please note these are the WI-FI speeds and not the 3G speeds, 3G performance will be identical on both units.

3. We've received stock of the high gain (11dBi) 3G antenna's and are doing a promotion on them, I'm pleased to say that we've once again got a special for the MyBB members, we're doing the kit which includes the MR3420, LPDA11A antenna, 3G coupler and UC100 for R899 including VAT, this price is exclusive to MyBB members and the UC100 is also only thrown in with the kit for MyBB members. To order send an email to [email protected] stock code is MR3420-LPDA and mention that you're a MyBB member (with your user name) and you'll qualify for this great bundle at the discounted price. This bundle retails for around R1300 including vat, price will be valid while stocks last.

Thanks for the reply.

Very nice, thanks. For those that don't know what the kit looks like, it looks like THIS plus the UC100.

Anyone tried this to see if it works with CellC HSPA+?

With these specs, I'd say not, but then the regional differances might make allowances for changes ...

Thanks Kernel - tried the new firmware - it's still taking EIGHTY seconds to identify the modem before connecting, which makes things extremely slow!

ZTE MF190 Cell C Modem

I contacted tp-link in China, they mailed me 'sniffer' software to create a bin file for the tp-link 3420 router. after hours of struggling i got the correct commands to load onto the tp-link 3420 router.

My tp-link 3420 router now works with the Cell C ZTE MF190 modem.

They requested that all my log-files and .bin files be sent to them for further 'streamlining'.

They'l be releasing new firmware soon , to incorporate the Cell C MF190 modem ....

Hang in there .....

Modem MF190 & TP-Link 3420

brucem, i can mail the .bin file to you. I think we must put the .bin file up somewhere so that everybody can get it. Who can help with that?

Okay, so what's happening well Cell C's routers? I've tried about every shop in Gauteng and no-one has stock. The problem should've been sorted out and new stock should now be available. I need one....to save my marriage ;)

Just get a TP-Link. It works.

If you really want to save your marriage get her an iPad :p

...not for everyone...

I'm currently testing the Netgear 624GU with my white stick and I'm very impressed (touch wood). I haven't decided what I want to do with my TPLINK 3220 (or whatever the code is) that's now sitting back in its box in the garage.

Yeah, but I want something that just works. Had my fun with fixing IT stuff. Regarding the iPad. My wife owes me one ;)

I'm not aware of issues with the TP-Link routers. I have one of the APs and it's got a nice clean web interface, was easy to setup and "Just Works".

Different strokes for different folks I guess...
