I use the TP-LINK 3420 from Uniterm as well. I have being having a hasel with it though. The router is in the study and close to the computers, (Apple"s) at times the connection stalls, I cannot even enter the router with the 192.168.1.1 to check the connection. To rectify I switch off the Airport facility (like disabling your wireless connection on windows) then switch it back on and everything is fine for awhile. I don't know if the problem is interference or not I have moved the router to other locations, switched channels but still seem to have this problem. I now use a Nexaire router which is a 802.11 b/g and not a 802.11 b/g/n like the TP-Link. The Nexaire is however very stable. I would prefer to use the TP-Link though as it have some configuration settings I would like to use, any ideas why its stalling.

Try setting up a static IP for your network. Might be the DHCP server not working properly.

Hi,

Just thought I'd post my experience with the TP-Link MR3420 3G Wireless N Router and its use with the E1820 dongle that comes with the Cell C 60 GB (5GB per month) bundle...
Thanks for that MightyMuffinMan.

I am on the lookout for a cell c compatible router, but would prefer a all in one router+model like the B970b from Huawei (I like the external antenna option and analog phone port) the only problem with it is that there is no Wireless N on it :(.

There is new firmware available for the TP-Link 3420 that was released on the 11th (TL-MR3420_V1_101104)

Just remember to backup your router settings before you update the firmware. I forgot to do that

Guys remember that if its working avoid updating firmware. Check the changelog first. This rule pretty much applies for all computer related stuff. If it not broken avoid fixing it.

+1
This mostly seems like some additional modems support update so I wouldn't bother if your modem works :)

Can't seem to find the Huawei D105 anywhere. Anyone know where to get them??
Been looking at the Dovado too and it looks real impressive!!!

Hi rapidblue

We will be selling them soon, Pricing has not been confirmed yet.

Sigh Cell_C Why didn't you guys just offer the router instead of the E1820 (in the 60 GB bundle) maybe increasing the offer by a few hundred rands to absorb the cost?

I guess it wouldn't appeal to everyone. I can't imagine my mum trying to make head or tails of this thing - would probably end up with a non-password setup and have the whole neighbourhood leeching her connection lol
Maybe once they start getting it in stock, it can be offered as an either/or with their currect modem packages

Must agree - router is not for your average user ;) Would be nice as an addition to a package - outright purchase is also ok ;)

My understanding is the D105 is a wireless router with a USB port, not a 3G router that takes a SIM card, so you'll still need a USB modem like the E1820.

You totally right. I prefer a router that takes a USB modem because then you can quickly pull the modem out and take it with you when needed :)
