Which package would be best for general web surfing off my PC and would they work in France and at what cost?

Best option in IMO would be to get a prepaid option in France or your hotel may have WIFI hotspots. If you want to use your MTN sim instead be prepared for a huge bill in a couple of months - I have heard roaming data charges can be as much as R200/MB, yes megabyte
