I did not get edge speeds?? What could be wrong? I did Sentech speed test and got 35 kb/s.
Another thing. Why would MTN upgrade the towers to EDGE, but not to 3G? Surely this should be done all at once??... to save some poor techie a trip??

I checked the address provided- the yellow broadband you see is for edge, not 3g.
Yellow Broadband = EDGE?
I called. End of Feb 2007.
I got the inside info from someone at last! The problem is that MTN is dependant on Telskom for the backhaul. Telskom don’t deliver on their promises and then MTN looks bad. The latest is that it would be done by April, but we can be sure that Telskom would slip up again.
The evil must be eradicated from our sociaty. I truly hate Telskom. It is ironic that the main reason that I did not want to support Vodacom is because of the Telskom shareholding.
Cannot wait for the sh..t to hit the fan in the papers on Friday. Just maby it will pee off the right shareholder somewhere and scare him into selling his stock, so that the share price tumbles. Just maby Telskom wil inplode. Cant wait! I also hope that each and every goverment official with a shares will go bancrupt. They must suffer.
@MTNDD & Snakepit
I've also been inquiring about 3G in Somerset West in November last year. Why cannot they tell us Yes or No, or if yes, where and when?
How can they being doing the Phase 2 roll-out if they do not have a schedule plan(what and where by when)? The guys at coverage@MTN helpdesk is not helping at all. They keep saying they'll phone back within a day or two, or have a technician calling you within a day, but never ever did I receive those call backs. There is no personal customer attention. I know these guys work hard on phase 2, but like we see with Sony Ericsson's lack of communication, no communication is even worse than no 3G.
So I understand where johandutoit2000 is coming from. Phoning that number and emailing to that address means absolute nothing.
So what can we as MTN clients do?

Okay here's some inside info
if it is Network Resource related there is nothing we can do until sites are upgraded. There is a serious shortage of E1 Links (Transmission capacity, I would say that we are a minimum of 1 link short per site due to Telkom non delivery and they are 7 to 8 months behind schedule if not more.

Thank you. I guess the lack of service from telkom is because they're in bed with VC..
