My 3g signal keeps switching between 2 different towers. It works ok but when it switches the data download stalls for a while.

External being outside your house? And how much would this cost? And how is it connected to phone/pc?

High gain antenna, mounted outside and connects to data card with cable, i.e. won't support handsets.

Will give around 15db gain, 7db on te antenna, 8 db for being outside, in other words a big gain.

Check the FAQ for suppliers.

Poynting supplies a gadget with their antennas that couples inductively to your phone - remember the old handsfree option showing a guy with a cellphone taped to his head? - pretty much the same idea. I haven't tried one yet but I believe that works effectively - you may lose a few dBs in the coupling, but the oudoor antenna will make a major difference!

The outdoor antennas are directional so the chances are very good that you will stay stuck to the tower at which it is pointed. An outdoor antenna solved this problem for me.
