3Gig CAP and DOS

OK So I reached my CAP now I have about .03kbps.
Even in the old BBS days with 2400 modem I never
went down to this speed.

Now when Telkom set-up their ADSL service - someone
must have "programmed" what would happen when the CAP
is reached. A decision must have been made what would
result. That decision is in effect a DOS.

The cost comparison with US is well known.

Basically I accept the CAP idea - 3Gig is fine,
but denial of service which .03kbps boils down to
is a bad decision by Telkom.

Telkom must do the following :

When the CAP is reached - bandwidth can reduce to
56K (or better if they can). When I used my dial-up
there was no CAP - so why now ??

If Telkom cannot accomodate this then I must go
back to my dial-up.

Effectively I have been shut out of the net - This
is what ADSL has given me.

Oh I must add - Without the CAP ADSL is stunning[][][][]
for me at least. The kids loved it - super super fassst

Come on Telkom - surely you don't want to play the big boss act
and shut out your customers ??. Just give a minimum of 56K
24/7 after the CAP and I for one will be happy

microfast, ive been down this road with telkom previously and had lenghly arguments with them... i told him that what they where doing was denying service to international websites, thus what u r saying, he then told me, that if i want international bandwidth when i am capped i must get capped @ the begining of the MOnth?.. haha funny telkom... i then asked why we cannot get capped to a 64k isdn line for international bandwidth, i was then told "that would defeat the object of caping users"

Glad to see I am not the only one from the "good old days" of 1200 bps modems and BBS services. Anyway aout the 3GB - it would be a good start if they don't include local traffic into the cap.

I capped myself last month and when trying to perform DNS lookups on any site, including telkomsa.net, the lookup would time out. Capped ADSL sucks.[!]

Same here. Still that way. In other words, many local sites don't work... [}]
