Isn't Pentium a bit old-school? As far as I know, Core Duo, Core 2 Duo and Merrom the the current and upcoming new hotness?

yeah my view exactly! but for similar performance to what they got in the experiment at a similar price I dont know if it gets any better

GILLXXX - Rather get the 900 series Intel dual core CPU. More bang for the buck with 800MHz FSB (opposed to 533MHz), 2x2MB L2 cache (opposed to 2x1MB) and 65nm (opposed to 90nm) fabrication process.

Intel recently slashed the prices of their dual core processors. I think their is another reduction coming up next month.

Only problem is the 900's dont have a 20x multiplier

955 and 965 are unlocked, so you pick your own multiplier.
of course, you pay for this privilege:) :)
