You could get shot and killed in broad day light, might as well use every bit of money you earn and have no savings.

More or less standard pointers in the article that people should be following. I have heard of people maxing out their credit cards, which still sounds bizarre to me.

One thing I would also add to the list is for people to consider their source(s) of income and establish whether that is good or changes need to happen. For example, working at a job that is severely underpaying you is also bad for financial health.
