470,000 Eskom customers must update their prepaid electricity meters daily for no one to be left behind

Eskom prepaid meter final warning

Eskom spokesperson Daphne Mokwena has reiterated that the 24 November 2024 deadline for updating prepaid electricity meters cannot be extended.

Standards Transfer Specification (STS)-compliant meters that aren't updated by the deadline will become inoperable and no longer accept electricity tokens. These customers will suffer electricity losses once their credits run out.

The first token clears the cache that stores last 50 loaded tokens as the unit will not accept any token older than the oldest one in that list.

Would then this have meant I could have cleared the cache, reload some recent tokens, clear cache, reload, etc.

Only then do I do the full reset and bump.

doublechecked my meter yesterday and confirmed compliant. Way too many people are going to find out the the hard way very soon.

Mine said 22 instead of 2 when I checked on the Meter.

Not sure but I think it's updated - cos of the 3 x 20 digit codes I got a few months back when i recharged via banking app.

2, 2.2 or 22 should be fine, it could just not be intelligent enough to put a decimal point at the right place.
