For the past week I've been capped at 48 kbps. I've logged calls, got ticket numbers, and were given the standard 'Fixed 1 Sept' promise. Well, today is 1 Sept, and my througput is still pegged at 48kbps. I see greedyfly has the same problem. Are there others?

I did a speed test at 06:05 this morning and got ± 5kBps (40 kbps) on international. I can't believe there were that many users on-line then. I have repeated the test every hour or so, during the day, and have seen no change in download speed, even though the number of users must increase significantly during the day. The only conclusion I can come to is my bandwidth is being "hard" limited by Sentech!

I'm on the "128kb/s" package
Getting 13-15kB/s for local downloads from tucows.is.co.za
Getting at most 5kB/s from international

I gather from the Brainstorm article that international bandwidth is capped. Appears to be 5kB/s or around 30% of 128kb/s

Or 15% of a 256kbps package. How can they use set the same cap for both packages.

I'm getting about 23% of the total bandwidth allocated to me (512k)

from what Ive heard, the bandwidth allocation was set to per session instead of per connection on some of the servers, this would explain why I had such good speeds until they started 'fixing' things

this is only a part of the problem I think, giving it another week, whereas after that I'll demand a full refund for what Im about to pay tonight, and get myself ADSL until iBurst releases.

Hell, my gran on a scooter with a memory stick is faster than Sentech's MyWireless!

My signature explains the situation. We are approaching the end of 1 September and we are still capped. By the looks of things above, 48kbps seems to be the global standard.

Got a call about my open ticket and was told that international P2P isn't there priority at the moment but they will work on it at a later stage. They want to sort out browsing and emailing first.
I use bittorrent to download stuff and getting a whopping 0-2KBps. Taken me 4 weeks to download a 700mb file and its not even finished yet. Honestly we all got mywireless to download stuff cause we have a permanent internet connection so we might aswell use it!!!
I am not going to sit at my PC the whole day browsing websites and waiting for someone to mail me. WAKE UP SENTECH!!!

I've finally managed to get to Level 2 in this 48 kbps game. Spoke to Karl and he also didn't believe there was such a thing as a 48kbps cap. After discussing the merits of bandwidth management, I managed to get him to do some tests on one of their mywireless workstations. He started downloading "Download Studio 10" from download.com on each package. Guess what??? After a minute or 2 each one settled at 6kBps. He did not believe what he was seeing and could not give an explanation. He did take a screen shot of each package's speed and promised to show it to the guys that configure the bandwidth system.

I must say that once you get past level 1, this "game" definately gets more pleasant. Now I just have to wait for a call back to update me. Karl, if you are reading this, please don't let me down now...

EDIT: My faith in Level 2 being better than 1 is declining rapidly. 2 hours have past and no followup call (even though Karl promised to call me back in an hour). Another thing I can't understand is why they have to even limit cached international content to 48kbps?

I went into broadband zone at menlyn today. Same old story.. I say "did you know it is capped" -- "No sir, its not capped" So I show them with a simple http://www.mirc.co.za/get.html download contrast. They were quite glad or seemed quite glad that I showed them the difference. Funny thing is they had no idea. I guess NoWire didnt inform the sales people of the cap. I did my duty -- pointed them here and told them to adjust the marketing of the products.

Urm, I downloaded a intl file starting at 15.5 (128) going down to 12kB/s. Obviously this file was cached, meaning that we _should_ currently get better speed on cached files.
