4G LTE comes to feature phones

Fantastic. Jannie, get all 2G devices off your our network now please and refarm all that spectrum. :D:p
It doesn't say 2G/3G are not supported anymore. ;)

Besides, more appropriate would be calling Cell C instead, as Vodacom do not support WiFi calling, but Cell C do.

I have actually tried to get answers regarding WiFi Calling and Volte. You will have better luck getting accurate information on Area 51.

I have asked like 4 different people and got 4 different answers. Well, 5 people if you count huh? as answer.

1. It is available
2. It is still in testing
3. It is not a priority for us
4. Perhaps in the future

I dont see why this is taking so long. In my head, sharing the load with WiFi can only bring benefits. Putting more and more calls through the LTE network will free up 2G and 3G resources which once it becomes critical, can be redeployed on LTE and future advanced networks.

I can only guess as to why the powers that be dont see WiFi Calling and Volte as a very important jump, but sure they have their reasons. I just wish it was not such a secret. :(

You was asking 5 fools. WiFi calling works on Cell C, important for eliminating roaming, international in particular. VoLTE - I don't know. Both require supporting phones which most of people do not have. And now we will be getting cheap phones capable both WiFi calling and VoLTE. It is fanatastic, in one year one of these phones will replace my Nokia 1600. :)

One note: VoLTE require costly upgrade of software, while WiFi calling not. It must be business decision rather than additional investment. Do it answer your question?
