4Mb upgrade has killed the networks.

There is a clear degredation in both the SAIX and IS netowrks. International browsing is horrible, pings are bad, and even local browsing is quite tardy. I wish we could have propper companies who would do research and realize that networks would have to be upgraded before they up speeds. Now i have to sit with a super slow connection for the next 6 months. Man oh man do i hate telecoms in this country

Well my ISP told me that they have no degradation on the IS network since 1st September, they are talking crap as i now see i am not the only one with the problem you are having, even this forum which was lightining quick to open the pages before is slower. IS international during the day really sucks, i think a dialup modem is quicker to open cnn.com for instance.

I would have to disagree. I am with a wireless provider in CPT who is peered with IS and my speed has actually improved dramatically.

I dont think we have a problem with our network but more so with our network components such as the DSLAMS which play a huge role when it comes to supplying correct speeds. Thats why Telkom put this whole 4mb trial in process, so they can assess where they need to upgrade their infrastructure... I have had no change in speed on my 384 line, and half the users on my DSLAM have a 1mb line (4mb)...

During peak hour both SAIX and IS are slower than normal for me. And by slower than normal, i mean very slow. Only abt a week ago was i going comfortably at 50kbps, more 90% of the lines capacity. These past few days i have been going at maybe 50-70% of the lines capacity. I am experiencing a definite degredation in service.

That's why TEL*** do this 4 Mbit trial pilot for 6 month so they can assess the 'impact' on their network before they will invest to upgrade their network, According to past practice if network is in a 'acceptable' condition I don't think they will bother to upgrade, Faster speed, faster bandwidth consumption and more people 'top up'........Sounds lucrative......
