Local: (Telkom Test)
Your line speed is approximately 391.7 Kbps or 48 kBytes/sec
( Where kb = kilobits and kB = kiloBytes )

International: (http://www.adslguide.org.uk Test)
Downstream: 92.04 Kbps (0.09 Mbps)
Upstream: 27.87 Kbps (0.03 Mbps)

Success - of course not - same goes for failure.

Its only been up for a few days so its way too early into what I can only assume will be a multi month trial to be claiming a success or failure.

I'm reserving judgement.

Myself

Telkom's upgrading of 1024 lines to 4096 is definately a success from what I've seen though but that is just one factor of many in deeming the entire trial a success.

Yeah i wonder how many people they're gonna get to go from 384 or 512, to 1mb just so they can participate in the trial. Then after the trial everything goes back to normal and 4mb will cost an arm and 3 legs.

No venom, I think telkom will stick with their 1mb replacement, after all 4mbit is needed for IPTV and if someone has to pay a fortune for the line to get less channels than dstv, its pointless.

All indications are the 4mb will replace the 1mb.

Line Stability?: 100% on a 7SNR and 54 Attenuation (in otherwords JUST making 4mbit)

3 q:s
1- how far from the exchange(DSLAM) r u..
2- jhb/cpt/bloem/durb where?
3- what modem (model) u using

i'm 3.7km away with 48-49 attenuation 6-7 attenuation but can't for the love of !@$!@$ sync at 4096 ... and having said that - the line has a bug on it too

i'd appreciate if u can comment on these Qs

Hi

Since this is a trial period it leaves the 4mbit people thinking if its going to be a success or not, so why not give your 1'st hand pro's and cons, mainly have you lost any latency in games you play, has your internet gone down the drain or has it been a success, add area too.

Pro's
Faster

Con's
None

Games: No change.

From what I seen so far, this has been nothing but good.
