Best wireless headphones for the office

Following the end of Covid-19 restrictions and lockdowns, many South African businesses called for their employees to return to the office, and some may find it difficult to adjust to the higher noise levels.

MyBroadband compared five of the best Bluetooth headphones — for a range of budgets — for the office. Each model listed features noise-cancellation capabilities and a battery life of 24 hours or more.

The price for the Sony WH-1000XM4 isn't R5,399 at Takealot from what I can see. It's R 6,759 over there.

I'm so tempted to buy it. Have the WH-1000XM3 but after daily use for many years I have to charge it every day.
The XM4s do have great battery life - even sitting with noise cancelling on the entire day. The only downside is no physical mute button. So if on a call and you want to walk around office or home or sneeze .. you need to mute on the PC / App - - if they had a mute button it would be awesome. I mean they have a "custom" button - but all it does is trigger the voice assistant (if connected to phone)

Their touch controls for volume are also weirdly good.

I think a Play/Pause type thing would be infinitely better. Its a feature some headphones have apparently, when you take them off your head they auto pause the music, and restart it when you put it back on.

The XM4's have the play pause feature when you take them off your head and put them down. It also has a double tap to pause on the right ear-cup (swipe up for louder, down for softer)

update: I need to play with that some more - It didn't do it playing spotify from the PC .. but I swear I've had it pause before - I might have disabled it .. hmm .. oki - so just don't take my word for it .. woops\

Imo, nothing comes within a mile of the new AirPods Pro 2nd gen.
  • Not headphones, way more comfortable
  • Noise cancelling is excellent
  • Audio quality is phenomenal
  • Built-in mic is serviceable
  • Battery life is good
  • Charges super fast in its case
  • If you have a Mac and iPhone, it does an amazing job of rapidly switching between them
