Sinotek 47'' Full HD LCD at Makro for under R 10 000 as well. At least worth a look.

You must have a big enough tv room for this baby .... sometimes biggest is not necessarily best.

But at R10k with a 5 year warranty???!!! DOOOO IT!!!!

I'd say wait for certain electronic shops to have big sales, I picked up a 50" Samsung Plasma, HD Ready (ok its not full HD) but it still has good picture quality, 20 000:1, 2 x HDMI ports, its pretty awesome. got it for R9499 with the 1 year warantee

How does the 720p look at that size? Is it still nice or does the image look grainy?

It's perfect!!! Stunning!!! It's so difficult to tell the difference between 720p and 1080p, or so I've been told and HDTV is currently being transmitted in 720p format and there are no plans for 1080p in the next 5 years.

Gaming and PC different story, 1080p is apparently a must..

only when you right up front I'd say a ruler length you can make out the grains on a HD video, other than that its fine.
