Currently we have the bizarre phenomenon of the $500 Toshiba HD-A1 HD-DVD player delivering a markedly better picture than the $1000 Samsung BD-P1000 Blu-ray player. As noted previously, this is due primarily to the inadequacies of the Blu-ray discs, and not the relative merits of the two players.

bit out of context but it sounds sooo naaaaasty ;)

It's a bit to early to declare a winner in the Blu-ray vs HD-DVD war. Unfortunately Samsung has severely let the Blu-ray side down with their BD-P1000 as it's noise-reduction circuit in the scaler chip is causing the picture to soften significantly.

Being the only commercially available Blu-ray player it's been used in a number of reviews where HD-DVD has been declared the winner. Since the problem was only brought to light yesterday, there are no reviews as yet between a "corrected" Blu-ray player and a HD-DVD player.

i agree its too early to to claim a winner.
after sony and the likes have launched their products (next month i believe) you'll see a better reflection of what the tech can provide.

does'nt really matter anyway, seeing as both hd dvd nor blu-ray have any content that totally exploits full features, as in interactive layers and so on. just hi-def at the mo'
