I thought MTN were going to match Vodacom's 500MB PAYG offering for R189?

The MTN website lists it as R250. That's quite a difference, even if Vodacom is so unreliable. When can we expect to see a package at below R200??

I've already removed my MTN sim card from my Huawei E220 modem, reflashed the modem with Huawei's own software and bought a Vodacom sim card. I must admit, I was online with Vodacom in less than 15 minutes.

Best of all, I had terrible HSDPA reception with MTN in Irene - and with Vodacom I get full reception! Also at work I used to get 1 bar signal strength with MTN, with Vodacom I get 4 bars!

*I bought the MYGIG 1 prepaid package from Vodacom for R289. :)

R250 for 500MB is the same price as Virgin - and the bundle doesn't expire in 30 days and can be used for voice/sms.

So for R49 more, you can add another 500MB.

*Something else - and this is really hard to admit, cos I'm a staunch MTN supporter...

MTN's 3G/HSDPA coverage is not as good as Vodacom. Whilst we were in Vleesbaai (10kms from Mossel Bay) for a weekend, my mate was playing Piggs Peak online poker on his laptop (with Vodacom E220), while I had NO signal from MTN. Same in Irene, same in Rietvalleirand.

Same thing here, i was on Vodacom the last 15 days and bundle ran out . I wanted to buy a 1GB MTN bundle this time around, so now it's still R399 vs. R289 at Vodacom.

The thing that broke the camel's back though was, even though my Vodacom bundle ran out before the 30 days, I COULD BUY A NEW BUNDLE IMMEDIATELY regardless of the expiry date of the "existing" bundle. The moment i buy a new bundle i get a new expiry date 30 days from the date of new bundle activation...

On MTN the steps are as follows:
Buy 1GB -> expiry 30 days later.
You use up 1GB in 20 days
Now you need to swop sims and load 1GB on the new sim
..and repeat

Methinks MTN needs to adjust a few things very quickly.

MTN got the ball rollling with the 2GB special which saw everyone else drops prices shortly thereafter, but MTN now seems to be logded somewhere on top of the mountain while Vodacom has already rolled halfway down:)

Why do do this?
Surely they want us to buy another bundle,so they make more money and ulimately make more profit?
Heres a thought:Mtn=Zimbabwe?
(Maybe not lol!)
