So need to make a plan and max exposure to my outdoor CPE. Current location not ideal with standard brackets that came with unit. Is there anyone out there that can advise please. My idea is to get unit higher into the air. Not sure what limitations there are, is lightning protection necessary all that stuff. Below is basic overview of site.

Hi there, I think considering you live in a standalone house the task of moving the unit to a more lucrative position is very much up to your DIY skills. From personal experience if you confident in your abilities and have the tools, skills and patience you will definitely find a better spot.

My next question would be with regards to CAT cable types and the effect POE injectors have on them. My technician left me with 20 meters of what looks like decent CAT5 cable. The unit came 10 meters of CAT cable not sure CAT 5/6.

Current ideal location is to far away from office so I ended up buying a cable connector block to merge the 10m and 20m cable to get to the office. Does anyone know how this effects POE injectors and transmission speeds? Wouldn't a CAT5e or CAT 6 improve things?

I'm new to the whole POE injector thing. Do you get a specific POE injector CAT cable?

Who would have thought mounting simple 60mm poll to a bloody wall would be so hard. Local Builders had nothing to do this, bought some flimsy gutter clamps but pipe is 60mm gutter standard sizing starts at 75mm. So bloody frustrating.

Picture in morning, but currently ODU is cable tied to kids jungle gym until I make another plan on roof. Getting ok'ish speeds today. Averaging around 250 peaks 370.

I get more or less constant 15 inside. But it has bursts of up to 180. Will call them tomorrow and find out how to proceed.

Ok, managed to make a plan. Used a Satalite dish bracket with two 65mm U-brackets. Poll is 60mm x 3mm x 3500mm aluminum. Was getting around 106 signal. Now in the 80’s. Made a huge difference in stability. Have not gained any more speed still around 300’s. Next upgrade is cable. Currently have two cables connected to each other to get me the 30’meters I need.

I dealt with a nice lady on the live chat. She emailed me yesterday to check in and said she will check in again tomorrow and escalate it.

Another thing to report. The RAIN optimizer that suggests which way to point CPE/ODU was actually giving me the wrong location to point to. If you look at current install ODU is pointed in Southerly direction counter to what optimizer was telling me. I can only assume the tower in north is closest, but tower I am connecting to now must be somewhere in south and further away from me.

I used ODU back-end live signal reporting via my cell phone and just twisted pole to find best most stable signal. If I pointed to to the suggested RAIN optimizer location signal was horrible. Would tie in with why I was also getting such bad signal. These ODU's need to be pointed in a general direction of tower and are not true 360 "filed of view" as far as I can ascertain.

Very nice setup. This is my distance. Using internal unit at the bathroom window which is the best spot. I would be getting so much better stats and better speeds if they just want to give me the ODU but they are just outright refusing me.

Always. I'm in a bit of a dip against mountain with lots of taller trees around me. Hopefully they take the knock. There was previous TELKOM antennae installation in same spot before with no issues.

Finished off install yesterday with 30 meters of UV shielded CAT6. No noticeable improvement in speeds. I am considering grounding this pole maybe some inline surge protection on the POE data line but I have ZERO knowledge in these fields.

Even with mast the rain has played havoc with line speeds in last day. Signal battling to get through low cloud base I think. Signal this morning was around 102.
