Does anyone know if the ODU ia available for purchase anywhere? I am operating outside of the 'blue patch' and am able to connect with the indoor unit, but the signal comes and goes - I've searched online and can't find it anywhere and very little information except for the ICASA approval

No, they will refund you and take the unit back if thats the case and you log a issue with them

Are you not worried about lightning
Spot on. By law, you have to install proper lightning protection on any antenna system that is the highest point on your home.
You cannot legally do this yourself either.
It must be done by a certified electrician that has the knowledge and certification.
Your CoC is compromised, your home insurance is compromised as it stands now.
And that flimsy little pole is not providing you with adequate stability either.
All in all, a disaster waiting to happen.
And, surely RAIN has the info available about in line protection on that signal cable?
Please tell me that they also have a fibre connection available iso, cat 5/6?

Over weekend moved the ODU to 45 degree position from top of pole. Called my electrician friend who is going to help with the rest.

Hi. Can anybody recommend a reputable company that can come out and do an outdoor installation in the Pretoria East area? I dont want to attempt it myself given CoC issues.. and my aversion to DIY.

My tower is quite close.. about 2 roads over and 2 blocks up, but the max I get is 100mbps and connection is very unstable.. (drops to zero several times a day and has to be reset).

Can I request Rain to do it?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe try a DSTV installer?

I am under the impression Rain should do the install.
Just ask them.

Using supplied wall mount bracket they will mount to nearest ideal, easily accessible location (if ODU). Nothing more. Had to supply them tools as well.

Would much prefer if they did it.. in my previous support calls they never volunteered this an an option though.

Edit: actually they said that they are not supposed to do it because of liability reasons.
