Hi Guys

I'm due for a new phone.

Now with that said it will be one of the above, I don't need WiFi, nor do I need all the other neat features that no one uses. The selling point is the GPS for me on this one.

Now which is better with the above being said ?

I've had an N95 for about 5 months now, got a 6110 Navigator for my dad last week and spent a couple of days playing with it before giving it to him.

The construction of the 6110 is more rugged, navigating the menu and switching applications is slicker and acquiring a lock with the built-in GPS is faster.

The only thing I prefer about the N95 is the bigger screen, although the resolution on both is 320x240 so the N95 doesn't even offer more detail.

The advantage with the 6110 is that it has Route 66, which is better than Nokia Maps (IMHO). It also has free voice navigation. Besides, it's free on most contracts.

I think the only advantage the N95 has over it is wifi and the 5MP camera.

And that I don't need :D

Got a Lappy with WiFi and I have a digital camera and a Camcorder that records on DVD discs ... Now with that in mind the 6110 Navigator is the best of the 2 in that regard then ?

That is correct. The 6110 Navigator is great.

I got a N95, my old man has the 6110. If you don't need the Wi-Fi or better cam, then definately the 6110 Nav.

My New 6110: Feedback

Hi All

Got my 6110 yesterday, the GPS is better than anticipated. Till now I used my PDA with a bluetooth GPS receiver loaded with Handymap, I must say Route66 software is very good, the stereo speakers are loud and clear and it's more accurate than my current pda with Handymap.

On reading some reviews I was skeptical about being able to "see" given the smaller screen than a dedicated GPS device, but it aint that bad !! The voice navigation is much better and more detailed than Handymap.

First thing I did was turn off Assisted GPRS, thanks to the warnings by others on this forum ;-)

The menu's and functions are slick, really fast and a pleasure to work with.

Synchronisation with my outlook contacts, calendar, tasks etc was a breeze and the 3.5g (HSDPA) is amazingly fast !!

I have no regrets choosing this over the N95.

Thanks for the helpful feedback and posts from everyone in this forum :)

I'm still waiting for MTN to get these damn 6110s. From store accounts the phones are trickling in but not in any great numbers. I'm on a waiting list but seem to be waiting an awfully long time. I'd prefer to get it on contract but thinking I should just get another phone, flog it, and buy the 6110 from somewhere else. If anyone working for MTN is listening and can hook me up with one please PM me ;)

where is Piesang? :D

Hi guys. You all know by now that I am a 100% Nokia N95 fan. My brother and brother in-law both uses 6110Navigators.

If you want to upgrade your contract and really want a true GPS then go for the 6110Nav. It gets GPS locks very quickly and the software is free and preloaded with Voice Navigation.

If you want a GPS but you also want the other features like 5MP camera, Video Recording in Excellent Quality, bigger screen and the ability to have 6GB of memory, then go for the N95.

Both are great.

Battery life is IMHO good overall... Fine for normal calls, etc... but, GPS and HSDPA really kill it fast - if you leave the GPS on most of the day, it will go flat in a day.

I always connect a charger when I surf the net on my PC.

If you want to used GPS all the time in a car (say on holiday), then you will need a car charger.

Forgot to mention... I think it is fiune to leave on assisted-GPS... the amount of data is very little, a few kb here or there.

If I'm correct, our Networks doesn't support A-GPS. Do they?

Sorry, Piesang, but you might want to change your signature man!

Your phone is so yesterday now, the black 8GB N95 is the future. :p

Ag shame man!

Did you REALLY fall for Nokia's pathetic excuse (or is it what you tell yourself every day when you wake up) - it's called a 'N95 classic' now - I simply can't stop laughing.
