Does this work by dividing the screen into 63 zones and metering each for light - either under or over exposing each?

Does that mean that it would be more difficult to get - for example - a silouette of something/someone in front of a sun?

Or would be an option in metering ie spot, centre, 63 zone - so can be turned off?

EDIT : so this http://mybroadband.co.za/photos/showfull.php?photo=15535 would actually white sand?

Are you referring to the 7D/60D metering system?

Zone metering meters for the entire scene and sets the exposure accordingly, it doesnt increase the dynamic range.

Yup ...

So I figured with this, backlighting is reduced (ie a person in front a window)?
