Read an article in either the Cape Times or Rapport over the weekend, where certain ministers want to push income tax all the way to 66% to alleviate the poor.

When this happens I'm closing down my company and rather go and pay 50% tax in 1st world country where this includes my medical and pension

The gvt can go and f$ck itself

They don't seem to realise that that's likely to be everybody's response, the more you tax people the less motivated they are to work etc.

Also the more you tax people, more leave and you're left with a bunch of poor people to tax. The poor people thing is getting really old really fast and I think that's bullsh*! The more money they make in tax the easier money goes missing and we all know that power corrupts.

nope the biggest problem if you tax people at 66% is that they have less money to spend and thus the economy suffers and less jobs are created.

The people receiving the R130 will not be spending on labor intensive goods but rather on things like maize etc.

If this is implemented you can be sure the poor will be far worse off in 10 years time compared to today.

Would you rather get R130 or work and get minimum wage which is much higher?

PS: and what is the chance of the R130 reaching the poor anyway? most of it will probably go to currupt officials and illegals...

We are heading towards a state owned country here, where everything goes to the state and gets distributed as the state see's fit, which isnt good news. How many people are actually registered to pay tax? 5 million of the 55 million people in this country?? what are the other 50 million people doing?

I think it's even lower, 2-2,5 million.

Change the rules... Vote accordign to your tax contribution. The more tax you pay the more votes you get... After all it is your money the gov is working with. The more they take the bigger say you have.... Maby then the gov will be better.

now thats a frickin idea of note.

to counter this problem the powers that be would systematically reduce the upper level of taxation.

would work for me also

We had this principle at school ( a while ago ) Voting for representation. St 5 pupil get 1 vote each, st 6 pupil 2 votes each, st 7 pupil 3 votes each etc.

It works.
