Hi. I was perfectly connecting to 1telkom connect. Then suddenly today I see that 1telkom connect has a security lock on it. Now I have no access to my free 10gb wifi. I connected via wifi through eap-sim. Is there a new way to log on or am I doing something wrong? I am logging onto pier 14 centre in port elizabeth.

Hello Guys

I did some digging and found this page. http://telkommobile.mobi/help/wi-fi From the looks of things you'll need to register on the 8ta site with your 8ta sim then ADD your laptop or mobile device mac address.

I have one question Is it not possible that some devices mite have the same mac? I know you can change mac addresses on some devices and also "clone" mac addresses. My router even has a function like this .

Hi, everything we buy in South Africa are always very expensive and you must always replace everything afterwards. Companies want to retire after one sale and we keep on loosing out. Try this Link and look for better options.

I buy my tablets and cellphones at: www.dealsmachine.com / www.everbuying.com
Other products: www.miniinthebox.com / www.lightinthebox.com
About all the electronics around us come from China, so i will rather buy online from them and save. The cellphones are good quality and i will never buy a contract phone again in my life. Hope you will also benefit!

That is the shipping time when buying from these sites?
Anything like the 3months buying from ebay?

If only I had a smart phone. Unfortunately, my laptop network adaptor has no SIM slot so the SIM data is not accessible to authenticate the wifi connection. I wonder if EAP-SIM authentication is possible using a sim reader on the laptop?

Windows 8 (7 doesn't) supports it, but as far as I know the Huawei stuff does not implement the MS interface for WWAN networks... (It might work with built-in 3G adapters, like in some HP laptops)

Wifi data on iPhone

Hi I know this a old thread. But Im trying to connect my iPhone6 with iOS 8.1.3 to the WIFI hotspots. I added the EAP profile already. But everytime I want to connect to the 1 Telkom connect hotspot, a password window pops up. Im not sure if its because I have a Vodacom sim card in my iPhone. Help please. Im wasting valuable wifi data.

Hi SteveW
Did Telkom ever give you feedback regarding an EAP-SIM configuration file?

Their portal to enter the mac address for a secondary device is not working. Why bother introducing a service that doesn't work

Guys, it couldn't be simpler. You get in range of one of the many hotspots, and connect to 1 Telkom Guest. Your default browser is then initiated. Either you register with your email and mobile number (your OTP is SMS'ed to you in this event), or you simply log on using the username and password you created during the registration process.

You can update your Steam games and download as many torrents as you like for thirty minutes a day. Your primary device (telkom mobile phone) has unlimited access, it's even simpler to connect. You simply use the SIM connection method on the 1 Telkom Connect access point (not the guest). Then whenever your phone is in range of a hotspot it will auto connect. Very useful.

I tried to torrent once. It's super slow yet software updates for my Mac that are usually GB's in size are done in less than an hour.

You need to first find your nearest Telkom WiFi hotspot, they have a map on their website. You'll need your 8ta sim to access it of course. Choose the Telkom Connect connection, go to the settings of that connection and change the method to EAP so it can identity your sim card.

You need to log into your Telkom mobile account and add your phone's MAC address as a secondary device.
