Hi

sorry if this is a repost somewhere. Just trying to find out, as not vodacom, telkom or mtn have been able to help me.

I am unable to get a telkom line due to infastructure problems with my complex.

I wanted to get 8ta, but im worried about coverage. telkom could not garuntee that i would get 3g coverage they said i may only get 2g - this is not something im willing to accept as i would be better off with nothing.

Anyone in the midrand (just off new road to be specific) have 8ta and get good coverage?

also, anyone have the mtn uncapped in the same area and has coverage?

any feedback would be great.

Thanks

Can't you buy a cheap prepaid sim and try it out where you live? I would get a cheap sim from each of the providers and test for myself.

I have a similar problem and did exactly that. Bought pay as you go sims and put them all to the test...

Yip, just unload Vodafone software from memory (including System tray) and dial Windows dialup connection created by this software.

Try these guys:

I'm in Kyalami and their connection is excellent. They've got a tower in next to the sub-station in Carlswald, possibly more in Midrand. They'll come out and do a free site survey to see if you're covered.

k, well i managed to get the vodacom dongle to use the 8ta, now the only issue is the coverage is terrible.. couldnt even load the 8ta page to reload data. so with no telkom adsl, no 8ta.. im left with only mobile internet..

im at a loss now... mobile internet is too expensive for the amount of cap/data i can use... sigh....

anyone have any idea's?

i thought moving to jhb and midrand i wouldnt have this issue anymore.. i am unable to get any sort of internet.

I'm in the same boat. I'm using 8ta and it's terrible. I tried calling them, they sent in engineers etc but nothing was done. In order of Signal I would say Vodacom>MTN>8ta>CellC in Midrand. Vodacom has these 20GB Bundles, so for now that should work. Alternatively you can look at Neotel Fiber which is expensive but reliable and fast.
