8ta people,

Is there somewhere I can mail to find out when you will be supporting an area? I live in the Ilala Ridge area in La Lucia (next to Sunningdale) and its the small footprint of Durban North that isn't covered by your 3G.

I get a very weak 3G signal (100-200kb/s) that drops intermittent (as expected) but the other places I work/stay at I get full 8ta of 1500kb/s. So this is a bit of an annoyance:)

Hi whatwhat!

We have a site planned in Sunningdale which should hopefully resolve your issue. Network planners have provided us with an estimated month of installation which is February 2013. If there are more requests to get this tower installed sooner - the priority will increase and should be completed sooner. The form on our coverage website will assist in this process.

Thanks.

Our ADSL lines have been down since Saturday in most of the complexes here and Telkom just are not getting around to fixing it. So I've been using the 8ta tethering to get Internet but it's just crap here. I get a single 3G bar in a certain spot in the flat that gives around 200kb/s on speedtest, do you think putting a poynting antenna on the window might help? (those R600 window sucker repeaters)

Hi whatwhat!

Getting an antenna might help. We cannot guarantee that it would work as we are not sure about your location and terrain. If you provide us with your address (we would prefer GPS coordinates) and 8ta number, we will be able to do a trace and find out which tower you connect to and by looking at your location, we will be able to approximate if an antenna would work or not.

I am very impressed at (8TA coverage only) noticed traveling from Johannesburg to Pretoria without any dead spots but didn't make any calls whatsoever... I went to a resort and there is no population around and 8ta has coverage their and highly doubt i was roaming on MTN.

Can you read? If so, maybe read what the topic is about and the location.
