I took that R199.00 / 10GB contract which expired 5 July 2013 and that's roughly when the service stopped working. All good as it was really cancelled and cancellations did contact me etc.

But - how are we charged?

I see R199.00 came off my account this morning?
Surely that's wrong?

Do we still have a rep on this site that can assist?

Even the call centre is not 100% clear on the cancelling or why I was debited

I also got charged 399 for the two 10gb specials which were supposed to expire by the end of june. I went to the 8ta store in May and filled out a cancellation form with one of the employees there. They told me it should be cancelled by the end of june?

I have an ADSL line now so I never even use the 8ta sticks anymore, but I'm still getting billed for it.

I know it is different from the original topic. I want to know because mine is going to expire in October.

I've also gone the ADSL route ... 2mbit uncapped through Telkom for R620.00 or something (including line rental).

The main thing I like about ADSL over 3G is the always on connection - with any of the networks I ever tried, I'd leave in the mornings and by the time I got home in the evening, I'd need to reconnect.

Normally the invoice date is the first of the month for the service of that month. It reaches you around the 5th and it's due at the end of the month.
The exception is the first invoice, dated 2 August 2011: It's for the period mid-July to 31 August. Add the R200 sim fee and in some cases a few cents for out-of-bundle during July.

So, you should not have been billed more than R32 yesterday (plus out-of-bundle for June if applicable).

I'm also upset: My contracted expired 7 July. I emailed my cancellation in May and filled in the prescribed form at the branch in June, just in case. But they put me on month to month and deducted R199 yesterday. And I did not receive an invoice during June.

I can recommend emailling social a t 8ta.com. In the past he/she has done a thorough job investigating billing problems (prepaid in my case).
