My 60GB + 60GB is almost finished and I'm trying to buy airtime online making use of your website to pay by credit card. Now this whole week I go through the whole process until it gets to the very end and then I get this error:

Oops! The page you tried to access is going through technical difficulties.

I tried clearing my cache and that didn't help.

If I don't come right this weekend then I'm going to go buy Cell C's similar bundle.

Phoned customer support who wasn't able to help me. They said the backend people will have to look at it and that it will take 2 to 3 business days to fix.

Sorry 8ta but I'm going to go with the CellC Giga 200 special from Makro. I tried to support you guys but you don't want my money.

I'm too scared to go buy vouchers in case they don't work either. Your website seems broken.

I have sent this to a mate at telkom, he usually manages the web portal stuff.

This has always worked flawlessly for me - bought a 60+60 using it before, takes minutes - EFT not CC tho.
Will work if you can EFT from your CC account with your banks internet banking

It's alright. I bought the CellC Giga 200. Eh was a bit super angry this morning. Was just a morning of struggling with things that one shouldn't be struggling with.

That's actually a good option. Thanks Tun, will keep that in mind for the future. May go back to 8ta if they have a good LTE offering.

But the thing is it's been broken FOREVER! That's what pisses me off. You can do a search and many people have posted about it. I have spoken to their live chat representative about it. The same answers but nothing is done. They simply don't give a hoot and if I had Cell C reception in my house I wouldn't even entertain their business.

In the meantime just use Nivo.co.za to buy airtime with your credit card. The first time you order you have to wait to get verified (one business day) but from your second time onward your airtime is delivered in seconds 24 hours. They gave me excellent customer service when I was too impatient to wait one day to get verified.

I've used the 8ta credit card top up more than 10 times without any problems. My browser is Chrome and I have an ABSA Credit Card which takes me to the 3D secure page.

I used Firefox, Chrome and in the end Internet Explorer. I've got two credit cards, an ABSA one and a Virgin Money one. Nothing worked. I actually get past the 3D Secure page. All the way to the end where you have to tick the two boxes to agree to their terms and that the process is irreversible. It's the page after that where I get the error. Every time.

It's not 8tas fault.

I've got a Standard Bank Mastercard and I had the same problem a couple of weeks back when I tried to purchase a 60 + 60 package. Even got the OTP sms but nothing. After 2 attempts saw an sms that I must contact the fraud department of the bank. Gave them a call and they asked me to confirm that I was trying to make a purchase from 8ta. Seems that because of the time of the transaction and being internet they would rather be safe than sorry. They reset my card and I was able to make the transaction without a problem straight away.

Best check with your bank to make sure that they have your correct details for the 3D secure code/s.

Whilst a bit pissed with the bank for the inconvenience, appreciate their efforts in making sure that no fraud takes place on my credit card.

Nah, I used two different credit cards and I buy from other places regularly. Hmm however I do believe that Virgin makes use of Absa so it may be a case of Absa blocking transactions to 8ta.

Yes... Have also had problems to buy airtime online on more than one occasion... and once I logged in the available airtime and data info doesn't load....( the irritating pink circle just spins). USSD method also not problem free,,, load data bundle and then takes a few minutes for confirmation that data package is loaded. But all and all still happy with them. Just a pain if you out of data and cant get sorted asap!

I used to have this problem, now thanks to Cellphone banking, I can topup easily. I highly recommend it. Dunno if Virgin or Absa has the option to buy airtime like that though. I use Standard Bank.

Indeed. I had this problem around the middle of last year. Had to visit a Telkom Direct shop (luckily only a kilometer away) to get the voucher I needed for my 60+60. Perhaps they'll have it fixed in time for my renewal...
