8ta speeds in Randburg abysmal!

Just did a speedtest here in the UK. Oh, the delights of high speed internet access -
16.81 mega bits per sec ... read that again...

Meh, I'm not too far from that, and at least in SA I've got decent weather too!

Ah yes, here's 35% faster but you're 92% faster than the rest of SA (A Grade) whereas this is 59% faster than the whole of GB (C+ grade) AND this costs R240 uncapped including the phone line! (And a 19ms ping!)

The weather... ja well no fine, you got it on that one

On another note I bought a UK sim card with, wait for it... 300 anytime minutes, 3000 sms's and "all you can eat" data (basically uncapped) for R183!

After a nearly a year my download speed is up to 1.5mbps! Whoo hoo :wtf: Wonder if I'll ever get the 5mbps that I got in the first month, probably, but only in the last month before this damn contract expires.

Yeah i know how you feel pardus, I to live in Blairegowrie and my 8ta 3G has progressively gotten so worse that it actually takes me 5 minutes to download a file thats 375kb. It really pathetic, my blackberry's EDGE out performs this anyday. I've had days when i suppposedly connected but cannot open any pages what so ever and in the 8ta connect panel it doesnt even show download speeds . . .

So the repeater that was installed is no longer working, I reported it 5 weeks ago and all I get is "We have requested the technicians to provide feedback on your case and we will revert to you as soon as we receive feedback" to every email I send.

My download speed is 0.75mbps, yay:

I'm in hurlingham manor near the randburg cbd and the speeds have decreased shockingly lately. Get 0.3-0.7mbps on speed test...

It just gets worse and worse, thank heavens I only have one more month with this company. It's the last day of this month and I have 2.7GB left, so I thought I'd do some updates, watch some youtube, download a few things, etc but oh no, 8ta has other ideas, they're absolutely determined not to let me finish my cap before midnight!

My advice to anyone thinking about going with 8ta/Telkom Slowmile is just don't, there are better options!

Not sure if anyone is still watching this thread but I'm in Randburg and switched to neotel wimax and its working great and for R750 it's uncapped
