I have been pretty happy with 8ta for the past 15 months with download speeds hitting 8Mbps and uploads of 2-4Mbps. Gaming etc was good. I have to add that it cost me some in directional aerials etc to achieve this.
FFW to November. Up and download speeds are down and connectivity is an issue. 1st of December I get my 10Gigs of data and by the 3rd it is gone. No auto updates on any PC and no downloads made. Just browsing and email. This forces me to buy an extra bundle.
This was around the 10th of December. Then the random ***** really start. I can not get any signal from 8ta. When I do get, I can not connect. When I can connect, I get disconnected very quickly. When I stay connected for a few minutes, the data rates are so bad that it is unusable. This is via my WiFi router and USB directly into my laptop. It is also the same with different USB sticks.
At some point here my SIM also decided to stop working. On 28December I go to Telkom Mobile in Centurion for a SIM swop. Lady says SIM will be active when I leave the store. Haha. SIM unly became active on the 3rd of January. One phone call to Telkom lasted 31 minutes, others slightly shorted. No one could get the SIM active. Problem was blamed on "System Error".
So there I was in December. My data got "lost", I could not use the data I had available, I could not get a SIM swopped, I could not get signal, I could not connect and I could not stay connected. Most of this is now resolved except for the upload speeds. It is sitting at a constant 0,02mbps. Download speeds I have seen at 5Mbps. Gaming is useless. Telkom Mobile is useless.
I have now sent a cancellation letter to Telkom Mobile. They have received my cancellation mail, they have read it, but to since 27/12/2013 no one has responded to it.
Telkom Mobile might advertise that they were the best data network, but I have a feeling they will not retain that accolade.
