8ta useless reps on this forum

I reported constant disconnects with my 8ta connection since the middle of December. The problem was reported in beginning of January to the 8ta rep here. For far I've just heard some useless stories that probably my account is suspended and so on. My account is not suspended and the debit order goes out every month. But the disconnects continue.

Anyone can advise where to from now because obviously the 8ta reps here are pretty much useless!

I have also been experiencing frequent disconnects on internet promo 5. If you google this, it seems many people have had this problem, all beginning around the same time.

I would beg to differ with the headline proposition that 8ta reps on this forum are useless. Many members have found them to be pro-active, polite and helpful in resolving individual issues raised in these threads. Credit where credit is due, particularly when some of the other providers couldn't appear to care less sometimes!

I have and no help from there either.


What I have noticed is the disconnects happen more frequent in the evenings but never get disconnected while downloading something. As soon as I just read a page, do online banking or something else, the disconnects start. Last evening it was happening every 2-3 minutes - disconnect and reconnect again.

Put my Cell C card in the same modem with a bit of prepaid airtime and the connection stays stable.

And my 8ta tower is not even 150m away from me. Signal is always 100%.

i have found too that the rep has been responsive. lately however he are being scarce.

I have had the same problem, last year. I had 8ta technicians come out and they could not find anything wrong with the signal, yet my connection was like a Yo=Yo. On and off. Was frustating as hell. Any way, this is what happened.

What i did not know then was that my modem was packing up. I had a huawei 7.2m dongle from CC. When it did pack up I purchased a huawei 21m dongle as well as and extension cable. I now surf to my hearts content.

Therefore, if you could borrow a dongle and test it to see if it is stable or not. If it is stable get a new dongle. What i also noticed is that if you connect directly to the comp's usb, then your speed is slow and you get disconnects. If you add an extension cable those problems are history.

I am outside of 8ta's coverage area, yet i connect at 21.6m and my speed is between a few hundred kb to 5m. Try it and see if it works.

I have done more than enough tests. I put the 8ta SIM in my tablet and the disconnects continue to happen. There is nothing wrong with the modem as I have tested it with other networks SIMs and the connection is stable.
