Critics observed that there were no structural engineers listed as members of the group - their website now lists only three structural engineers as members
[5] and argue that the engineers involved with the scholars have little relevant work in the appropriate disciplines related to structural engineering or controlled demolitions. Critics also note that none of the research by the group members has yet to be published in any peer reviewed science journal.
More recently, former members Judy Wood and Morgan Reynolds resigned from the association on August 23, 2006 criticizing both Prof. Jones and the Journal for 9/11 Studies.

Woodruff Miller - within Stephen Jones' own university Department - has argued that "without exception, the structural engineering professors in our department are not in agreement with the claims made by Jones in his paper, and they don't think there is accuracy and validity to these claims". Critics also noted that of the 139,000 members of the American Society of Civil Engineers, not one was a member of the Scholars for 9/11 Truth; they now have just one American Society of Civil Engineers member, Joseph M. Phelps.
