JOHANNESBURG – Nine suspects have died in a shootout with the police in Isipingo, South of Durban, on Saturday morning.
Authorities say they received information about a planned business robbery in the area.
Police had earlier reported that seven suspects had died, but later confirmed that another two had been shot by officers at another scene.

Wonder what precipitated the criminals not surrendering in this instance, literally they all died?

Not that I'm disappointed, I wouldn't be against a policy of armed criminals who resist arrest/refuse to immediately surrender being shot on sight by policeman.

Great work done by the SAPS! Well done.

Wonder if it was uniform branch or the STF who took these useless scum out.

KZN police have taken out a large number of these thugs in the past few months. As much as it's claimed their shooting leaves a lot to be desired, their shooting is still many orders of magnitude better than most thugs'.

These feel-good stories should be plastered all over local media channels of communication in a persistent, consistent and graphic manner too. Criminals should see their compatriates being gunned down and take heed.

Kill 'em all I say. Time to take the law back in this farked up country.

Maybe they did or were outgunned and the police exterminated them instead of.. Paperwork

Actually a 29-year old suspect was arrested at the scene. If you consider the number of assault rifles in the gang's possession, plus the advance positions held by the tactical units then the moment the gang opened fire on the police it was never going to end well for them.

So it may be a case where these criminals under estimated what they were up against and when they tried to shoot their way out they got a whole lot more than they bargained for.

Either way some good old USA style police work went down :D

Weird that there have been no news. updates on the story, what actually happened is still patchy.

Wonder if any of our police wear bodycams as part of their duty uniform?

Now there's an idea.

Robbers get away with no police presence: 2,000 pages worth of reports.
Robbers get away with cops present: 1,500 pages worth of reports.
Robbers get shot and wounded: 700 pages
Robbers get shot and killed: 2 pages

Exactly the gang likely thought it was up against regular SAPS. These gangs usually include ex-SAPS/SANDF armed with AK's so the threat level is high. If the gang had known they were STF, CI and K9 units they might have instead chosen to lay down on the ground. Task force members are well equipped and well trained up to counter-terrorism levels yet these operations remain extremely unpredictable and deadly. In February this year they lost a task force member in a similar tip-off operation against a CIT gang with CI also losing one member in that same incident.
