It'll have to be something pretty rare like alien bacteria that they're mining to be cost-effective.

I do have some images of men in space suits doing toy-toyis in slow motion.

Well once you have the equipment up the cost would be minimal. No need to worry about mining license, no concern about waste and best of all no need to blast for 2 Km to get to that precious vein. Also the weight of moving said rock around would be a lot less than say on land. Best of all no labour laws, so good luck with your dancing (I do think they will use bots instead)

Somethings that would be a problem is getting said goods to earth safely so yeah there is that. Mining the rocks for future space exploration might also be an option. Mine/refine and work with goods in space or on the moon.
