What network. No update on my xl on Vodacom.
Sorry. Bought phone off Amazon in Dec last year. It's a Hong Kong model. I use Telkom.

Seems it's rolling out progressively, so should appear locally at some point.

We are starting to rollout a new firmware update today for Lumia 950/950 XL: 01078.00053.16236.35xxx. Key improvements in this release include:

•Wi-Fi connectivity improvements, including fixes for Wi-Fi connection dropping randomly and Wi-Fi scan occasionally not returning any results.
•Support for double tap to wake enabled.
•Bluetooth connectivity improvements.
•Stability and reliability improvements.
•Camera improvements, including improved image and video quality, improved Auto-focus and fix for a problem that was causing slow motion capture to skip frames for some users.
•Cellular connectivity improvements, including fix for a problem that caused occasional network loss for some users.
•Audio quality improvements, including fix for a problem that caused voice call audio to get scrambled for some users.

The availability of the update may depend on your phone model, region or network service provider. Starting today, the update should become available for the first batch of phones and the remaining ones are expected to receive the update gradually.

Discussion here.

But isn't Microsoft in control of Updates now that Win10m is out? Not carrier controlled anymore? Or does firmware not fall under that?
Speaking off which, I'm probably getting my 950/XL this weekend.

There is a difference in Firmware versus OS Updates :D

Yeah I know, just thought they would take over the firmware part of it as well.
Just knew that you knew the difference as a Dr of @g0nic sciences. Just for those who not know Firmware is defined as.

Personal computers: ROM BIOS firmware on a Baby AT motherboard
In some respects, the various firmware components are as important as the operating system in a working computer. However, unlike most modern operating systems, firmware rarely has a well-evolved automatic mechanism of updating itself to fix any functionality issues detected after shipping the unit.
The BIOS may be "manually" updated by a user, using a small utility program. In contrast, firmware in storage devices (harddisks, DVD drives, flash storage) rarely gets updated, even when flash (rather than ROM) storage is used for the firmware; there are no standardized mechanisms for detecting or updating firmware versions.
Most computer peripherals are themselves special-purpose computers. Devices such as printers, scanners, cameras and USB flash drives have internally stored firmware; some devices may also permit field upgrading of their firmware.
Some low-cost peripherals no longer contain non-volatile memory for firmware, and instead rely on the host system to transfer the device control program from a disk file or CD.

Tried to inquire from Vodacom if and when this firmware will be released on Monday - No reply as at this posting.
Edit: Rx late info. Lookout for this update in next week or so.
