Well, it actually took longer, because the first time it got to about 25%, and then dropped the connection, so it had to start over!

Cell C please fix your EDGE??! How am I supposed to work when 2 Megabytes takes up to an hour to download, and a web page takes up to 5 minutes to load?!

If the speeds were consistent, this should have only taken about 1:30 minutes on EDGE!

Whooooooooosh :)

ronbo4GS, I haven't heard from you, or anybody else yet. What's up with that?

About the terrible speeds, I have done alot of thinking, and have an idea what the problem might be.

The problem is not my signal, nor my coverage.

During the night, from about 23:30, until 9:00 in the morning, the EDGE is fast, and I am able to open web pages within a few seconds; I am even able to load a youtube video, if I pause it and leave it to buffer!

But during the day, (midday, the afternoon, and evening) especially, it is a nightmare to use, and pages just do not load.

My conclusion:

Either this has something to do with overloading from too many users during the day, or, it has something to do with the position of the sun.
However the former option seems to make more sense, so I'd go with that.

Please fix this, Cell C, I know it's possible- anything is possible if Whooosh is possible :)

2MB/40 mins = 3MB/hr.
On a 56Kbps dial-up modem you can expect about 18MB/hr.

So that's 6 times SLOWER than dial-up!

Unacceptable ... I think performance on EDGE should at the VERY LEAST be better than dial-up. Hope your experience is not generally indicative of EDGE on Cell C.

Yes, during the day it's always this bad. But after midnight (00:00) I can get speeds of up to 25KBps, until about 7 or 8 am

Any plan now?

Luckily for me, my Cell C prepaid contract is over :whistling:, so I don't have to suffer with this EDGE nonsense anymore. Seriously it's gotten so bad that I can't even load a webpage after midnight... :erm: And no, I am not doing anything wrong. :wtf:

However when in joburg or pretoria the signal was mostly great, it's just terrible when it gets to EDGE.

I lost 2.2GB last month, because I could only go into the city once to download, and then the network was rather slowish so I only got 2.8GB that evening. :(
