not sure how they can justify it any longer, vaccines are widely available, infections are so low
we're very far from anything resembling a disaster

Is there even another mechanism besides the state of disaster to apply restrictions such as gathering size, masks etc etc at the province level?

While the restrictions definitely need a road map to easing they can't just open the gates and say go for it.

Exactly, state of disaster is not to prevent one but to allow you to get control of a disaster that has happened.

The virus is not gone, there’s still enough evidence to suggest there could be another wave. There’s also evidence to suggest the vaccines efficacy wears off.
Level 0 won’t happen this year.

Currently no.. but of course they're dithering with implementing something like that anyway, because to do it via the normal legal processes means everything is open to public oversight and proper court challenge and and and... so keeping the SoD in place is just easier for them.

The virus will never be gone, we need to learn to live with it without government measures

Yeah the SoD won't lapse soon so the 2nd big prize (as Winde has said) is at least to get a roadmap, but the ANC doesn't want a roadmap because then the citizenry will have a measure on which to pummel them if they don't adhere to the roadmap.

Of course they can. Why on earth would this need to be phased in?

So, the simple solution is end it and we all go back to March 2020. We were alive and everything was ok then, wasn't it?

Well that would be the simple solution if you aren't drunk with the power the SoD gives you... yeah.

Sure. Winde proposing a roadmap bullshit approach shows he's a gutless politician, no better than the cANCer. He needs a spine and a stand.
