I didn’t fixate on the missile thing at all. I used it as an example to show that your list has bogus claims on it. But I do think you have to make your mind up. The one moment you say that I focused on an ‘out there’ theory and for the rest of the post you seem to try defending the same ‘out there’ theory.

Again, you fail to address any of the points made in the coincidence theorists guide to 911.

Well, I did warn you that I don’t have time to address all the points in these conspiracy lists. But I must raise objection that you say I didn’t address ‘any’ of the points. So far I’ve examined two points, the one about Jonathan Bush and the one about the missile. Surely that counts? You’ve now gone and hurt my feelings.

Are you honestly that ignorant or stupid in data gathering, that you can't tell when you're clearly on a raving righting conservative 'patriot' site that has a range of serious agenda's. And you expect your point of view to be taken seriously?

Well, you know, when browsing these conspiracy sites it’s difficult to keep track. The one moment you’re on a right-wing loony site with serious agendas and the next moment you’re on a left-wing loony site with serious agendas. In my mind, there’s very little difference between these two brands of loonies, and all the loonies in between. And why did I call them ‘hardly a bastion of right-wing conservatives?”. Well, could be that I wanted to lure you there under false pretences, or maybe I was just confused by all the loonies and got it wrong.

But I just had to use this site and picked it from a host of candidates. Thought it was the funniest thing ever. Not only do they debunk the missile nonsense quite well, I thought it was priceless that they were asking their supporters not to use the missile claim because they don’t want the name of conspiracy theorists to be dragged through the mud. At least tell me that you see the funny side of this. You know, a bunch of loonies asking other loonies to be a little bit less loony.

By the way, as regards the idea that the hole was 90 feet wide in the Pentagon. Nope. I don't care what organisation 'says' there was a 90ft wide hole. None of the photographs taken, some within minutes of the explosion, show a hole 90 feet wide.

I’m now starting to feel that I’m entering loony territory having a serious discussion about this. But here goes anyway. All the reputable accounts I’ve seen speak about a main hole of about 17 feet and a damage area of about 90 feet along the Pentagon wall. Remarkably just like the pattern a plane would make when hitting a wall.

But my favourite must be the one on http://www.911research.wtc7.net/essays/pentagontrap.html This is another conspiracy site warning the budding conspiracy theorist not to use the missile myth because it is not good for the conspiracy cause. As you can see from the URL, they call it the “Pentagon Trap”. Classic. Now, whether this is a right wing loony site, or a left wing loony site, I’ll leave for you to judge as you seem to be the expert in this area.

If you bothered to do any meaningful research, or look at the facts

Now I will not say that looking at a few websites can qualify as meaningful research, but I think that I can say with relative certainty that all the evidence point to the fact that it was actually a plane hitting the Pentagon. And I would submit that any person with entry-level reading and comprehension skills would do the same after spending some time on the websites above. Or for that matter, on any of the literally hundreds of websites doing the same debunking. I’m really surprised that you haven’t come across this information before in your obviously extensive and careful research in this area.

And there is something else for you to consider. Your fellow conspiracy punters are asking you nicely to stop punting the missile myth because it’s damaging their reputations. Now, I know that it’s hard to let go of a pet theory. It’s like losing a baby. But let it go man, let it go. “'E's passed on! This theory is no more! It has ceased to be! Seeing as this thread is getting some looks, let's move away from looney oddities - and show you some facts.

The official story of 9/11 - is that there was no advance warning, and 'no one could have predicted it'.

If one demonstrates therefore, that this is a lie, then it rather shakes the foundations of the entire 'official version'.

1998: Indonesia Gives US Warning of 9/11 Attack?
Hendropriyono, the Indonesian chief of intelligence, will later claim that, “[w]e had intelligence predicting the September 11 attacks three years before it happened but nobody believed us.” He says Indonesian intelligence agents identify bin Laden as the leader of the group plotting the attack and that the US disregards the warning, but otherwise offers no additional details. March 1999: Germany Provides CIA Hijacker's Name and Telephone Number!

(German intelligence gives the CIA the first name of hijacker Marwan Alshehhi and his telephone number in the United Arab Emirates.)
The Germans learned the information from surveillance of suspected Islamic militants. They tell the CIA that Alshehhi has been in contact with suspected al-Qaeda members Mohammed Haydar Zammar and Mamoun Darkazanli. He is described as a United Arab Emirates student who has spent some time studying in Germany. The Germans consider this information “particularly valuable” and ask the CIA to track Alshehhi, but the CIA never responds until after the 9/11 attacks. The CIA decides at the time that this “Marwan” is probably an associate of bin Laden but never track him down. It is not clear why the CIA fails to act, or if they learn his last name before 9/11. The Germans monitor other calls between Alshehhi and Zammar, but it isn't clear if the CIA is also told of these or not.

The Italian government gives the US information about possible attacks based on apartment wiretaps in the Italian city of Milan. The communiqué specifically mentions this would be done via “an airplane stuffed with explosives.” The US and Italy are sent urgent warnings of this. To make doubly sure the message gets through it is passed through an Arab intermediary to a German intelligence agent. The message states that a major attack, code named “The Big Wedding,” is planned inside the US and that aircraft will be used. “When it became clear that the information was embarrassing to Bush administration officials and congressmen who at first denied that there had been any such warnings before September 11, senior Jordanian officials backed away from their earlier confirmations.” The Christian Science Monitor calls the story “confidently authenticated” even though Jordan has backed away from it. tell everyone, including physics professors, how we're all getting it wrong.

I saw this mysterious reference to the ‘physics professor” in your earlier post. I found it intriguing and wondered what a physicist would have to say about 911. Perhaps: “The plane vanished when it fell through a wormhole in space”? Now in a later post I see that you link to a report by a physicist about the collapse of the World Trade Centre. I’m a bit disappointed because I expected a bit more fireworks than this.

Now to be honest, my first reaction was what on earth does a physicist have to say about the collapse of a building? It’s embarrassing to admit, but I do know a physicist or two and with their flimsy grasp on the real world, I’m amazed that they find their way to work in the morning.

Jokes aside, what I find interesting is that people actually think that when they use ‘physics professor’ in this context, that they somehow add weight to their argument.

And please don’t accuse me of not reading the report. I’m no expert on collapsing buildings and am really not qualified to comment on something like this. I trust that the good professor’s report will be peer reviewed in due course by relevant experts and published. At that point I will certainly accept the conclusions.

In the meantime I’ll head off and find a structural engineer to see if he can explain to me how matter collapse to form galaxies.

CBS later reports, in a long story on another topic: “Just days after [Mohamed] Atta return to the US from Spain, Egyptian intelligence in Cairo says it received a report from one of its operatives in Afghanistan that 20 al-Qaeda members had slipped into the US and four of them had received flight training on Cessnas. To the Egyptians, pilots of small planes didn't sound terribly alarming, but they [pass] on the message to the CIA anyway, fully expecting Washington to request information. Late July 2001: Argentina Relays Warning to the US

Argentina's Jewish community receives warnings of a major attack against the United States, Argentina, or France from “a foreign intelligence source.” The warning is then relayed to the Argentine security authorities. It is agreed to keep the warning secret in order to avoid panic while reinforcing security at Jewish sites in the country. Says a Jewish leader, “It was a concrete warning that an attack of major proportion would take place, and it came from a reliable intelligence source. And I understand the Americans were told about it.” Argentina has a large Jewish community that has been bombed in the past, and has been an area of al-Qaeda activity. August 2001: Persian Gulf Informant Gives Ex-CIA Agent Information About ‘Spectacular Terrorist Operation’
Former CIA agent Robert Baer is advising a prince in a Persian Gulf royal family, when a military associate of this prince passes information to him about a “spectacular terrorist operation” that will take place shortly. He is given a computer record of around 600 secret al-Qaeda operatives in Saudi Arabia and Yemen. The list includes ten names that will be placed on the FBI's most wanted terrorists list after 9/11. He is also given evidence that a Saudi merchant family had funded the USS Cole bombing on October 12, 2000, and that the Yemeni government is covering up information related to that bombing. At the military officer's request, he offers all this information to the Saudi Arabian government. However, an aide to the Saudi defense minister, Prince Sultan, refuses to look at the list or to pass the names on (Sultan is later sued for his complicity in the 9/11 plot in August 2002). Baer also passes the information on to a senior CIA official and the CIA's Counter Terrorism Center, but there is no response or action. Portions of Baer's book describing his experience are blacked out, having been censored by the CIA. As can be seen by the wealth of verifiable data showing both official and unofficial warnings to all layers of the US Intelligence Services, and into the White House itself, via diplomatic channels, of a clearly defined attack approaching - it seems highly unlikely that the concept put forward by the Bush Administration of 'no advance warnings' - is possible, given the massive multi-layered (and increasing well-defined data) coming in.

This is the biggest problem I’ve had in this thread so far. It’s very difficult to distinguish between the crazy stuff and the sensible stuff that you’ve been posting.

Browsing through this latest list, there does seem to be a lot of evidence pointing in the direction that the US should have known about 911 beforehand. But can you conclude from that that they're evil and planned the whole thing? In my mind, no. What I worry about is that only 911 type threats are mentioned on this list. We live in a very dangerous world. How many potential threats do the worldwide intelligence services pick up annually? I would think plenty. So is the number of the 911 threats, assuming that they’re real, significant. I don’t know. Until one has a much bigger set of data to work with coming to a reasonable conclusion would be impossible.

And even so, it was Napoleon who said that “Never ascribe to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence”. Personally, and based on my view of the world, that would be my first reaction. Government departments are notoriously incompetent. And based on the stories I’ve read about the rivalry between the FBI and CIA, I can quite easily believe that information can go astray.

"An “emergency response exercise” is scheduled to take place at 9 a.m. the morning of 9/11, involving the simulated crash of a small corporate jet plane into a government building. The exercise is to be conducted by the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) in Chantilly, Virginia—just four miles from Washington Dulles International Airport, from where Flight 77 took off, and 24 miles from the Pentagon. Given the above verifiable data - its stretching the imagination to believe that - given the very precise preparation exercises run prior to 911, involving airplanes - 'no one could have predicted it'.
Its clear that not only was it predicted, it was trained for, up to and including the day of 911 itself.

Furthermore, given the curious flood of 'military exercises' on 911 itself - its yet another in a long line of 'coincidences' to have to somehow believe - in order to assume that it was merely coincidence that the US military was running large scale exercises which included dealing with 'terrorist-hijacked airplanes' - and which just happened to cause chaos and confusion amongst domestic air traffic controllers..

stepper, its sorta interesting - but I tend to keep clear of the total weirdness of illuminati/freemason type stuff - its kind've almost guaranteed to make people NOT listen to anything, if one starts with that field of discussion.

It does appear to be valid and has historical background and is well documented - but its just so 'out there', that its often better to take straightforward data around incidents, without trying to get folks into the idea of a 'worldwide Elite conspiracy' being behind 'everything'. Even if they might be Its too much of a web of complexity..

Oh goodie, yet another conspiracy list. Let’s look at it.

What is the “evidence” this time? A few examples of US institutions planning responses to terrorist attacks involving planes? In my mind it would actually be quite amazing if the US didn’t have this kind of terrorist threat in their list of potential terrorist attack scenarios. I’m sure they also planned responses to subway bombs, biological and chemical weapons, nuclear weapons etc. Obviously the US knew and planned for the potential threat from an attack involving terrorists and planes. That is surely common knowledge and hardly constitutes evidence of any nature. So, these statements are totally bogus in the context of what this list is trying to prove, i.e. that the US government knew about the actual 911 event, as opposed to the US government knowing about the potential for this kind of threat.

And then a few ludicrous ones, eg: “Medics Train for Airplane Hitting Pentagon”. That means one must believe, not only was the US government aware of the 911 attack and callous enough not to do anything about all the people that were going to be killed, they were kind enough to tell the medics at the Pentagon to prepare for the event. Unfortunately the folks over at the World Trade Centre were not so lucky. Phew. And this is where I stop reading this nonsense.

I watched the video - Witness to 911 (exact title?) - The sound of explosions - and the dust rising from the base of the towers - can certainly lead one to believe we are in a massive conspiracy. And watching the buildings come down all over again - in slow timed motion - is a gut wrencher.

Only issue I have is - where would you hide all that explosive - can understand deep in the basement (cutting the legs out from under) - but there must have been explosive throughout the building. How do you keep a conspiracy of this size quiet?

Certainly look like controlled demolitions - but surely a lessor target would have done just as good. Unless the US gov knew it was going to happen - and just sort of helped it along - and made sure the buildings came down (would want to bring them down anyway after being hit by a boeing?)

Cynical - but you can imagine the world we would be in - if the middle east ever decided to withhold oil - so america just looking after its citizens - and mega-oil corporations?
